SHOT channel reported that windows of some houses were broken and air defense systems were activated.
Kurchatov is a city in the Kursk region of Russia, bordering Ukraine. The urban area where the explosion occurred is only about 4 km from the nuclear power plant. In the city center, there is also the headquarters of the Energotex company, which specializes in manufacturing equipment for nuclear reactors.
Another "strong explosion" was also reported in the city of Voroznezh, the capital of the eastern Krusk region of the same name.
According to RT, Russia's Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod border regions have been frequently shelled and attacked by drones since the country's conflict with Ukraine broke out.
