Originally a pedagogical training institution, after 65 years of construction and development, Tay Bac University has always affirmed its role and position in providing high-quality human resources for the Northwestern provinces, especially in the field of teacher training. Entering a new phase, the school continues to aim to improve quality, striving to become one of the key institutions for teacher training in the country.

Tay Bac University is currently implementing many training programs in a variety of professions, from pedagogy to economics , agriculture, tourism, information technology, nutrition... with 2 master's degree training majors, 26 university training majors, 1 college training major. Of which, there are 13 pedagogical training majors. In addition, the school also carries out the task of training Vietnamese for Laotian international students in the university preparatory program; training high school students at Chu Van An Primary, Secondary and High School. With a team of highly qualified and experienced lecturers, the school has been and is a place to nurture and enrich the knowledge of thousands of students. The school's facilities are increasingly invested in synchronously and modernly, meeting the learning and research needs of lecturers and students.

Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Rector of Tay Bac University, said: On February 27, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 452/QD-TTg approving the Planning of the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, Tay Bac University will be one of 14 key institutions nationwide for teacher training. This has special significance in the school's development history, marking a new stage in which the school faces many opportunities and challenges for development, continuing to affirm its role in training high-quality human resources, especially teachers for the Northwestern provinces and the whole country.

To become one of the key institutions for teacher training, the school has created conditions for lecturers to study, receive in-depth training, and improve their professional qualifications. At the same time, there is a plan for policies to attract talents, strengthen cooperation in training, and teach pedagogical majors with domestic universities. The school currently has 6 associate professors, 87 doctors, and 223 masters, which are important human resources to develop the school's existing training majors, especially pedagogical training majors.

Dr. Dieu Thi Tu Uyen, Head of the Department of Primary and Preschool Education, shared: We focus on providing in-depth knowledge, creating opportunities for students to practice and hone their pedagogical skills. At the same time, with passion and experience, we teach students about reality, foster professional ethics, and love for the profession for future teachers, helping students after graduation not only to be good at knowledge but also to be solid in pedagogical skills.

Facing the new stage that requires continuous improvement of the quality of teacher training, the school has determined that it must pay special attention to innovating the training program in the direction of modernization and integration. The curriculum is reviewed and updated continuously, integrating advanced teaching methods, focusing on developing capacity and professional skills for students. In addition to specialized knowledge, students are also equipped with necessary soft skills such as information technology, thinking ability, understanding student psychology, communication skills, classroom management, innovation ability, updating new knowledge in teaching. The school continues to promote scientific research and technology application. Students and lecturers are encouraged to participate in research topics and practical projects. This not only helps to improve academic quality but also creates products, solutions, initiatives, and research with high practical application potential, especially scientific topics to develop the education career in Son La and the highlands of the Northwestern provinces.

Dr. Dang Thi Hong Lien, Head of the Faculty of Social Sciences, informed: For students majoring in education, in addition to knowledge, pedagogical skills are required. Therefore, we have increased the number of internships at affiliated schools, creating conditions for students to experience the real educational environment right from the first years. This helps students accumulate experience, practice classroom skills and solve pedagogical situations.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Tay Bac University will have a training scale of nearly 6,000 students and learners, of which, pedagogical majors have nearly 3,400 students. With the new development strategy, the school is focusing on the field of pedagogical training with specific goals. At the same time, creating favorable conditions for pedagogical students to study, train, practice, and nurture future teachers with enough heart, enough capacity, knowledge, capacity and skills necessary to meet the new development needs of the education sector.
