Born and raised amidst the Vam Co River, Nguyen Hoang Tien (Tien Vam Co) has traveled through all the communes and wards of Long An province. He skillfully incorporated the place names, cultural aspects, and history of Long An into his songs. Now, as many administrative units will no longer exist, these songs will remain unforgettable memories. And I am confident that for those who love Long An, these songs will live on through the years.
Mr. Tien shared his feelings: “Despite my busy work schedule, I still dedicate a day to driving around and revisiting the old administrative unit names before they were changed to the new ones. Although some place names are gone, our homeland and roots remain. And we are proud to be citizens of this S-shaped land because every place is our homeland. In the future, I plan to continue composing songs that reflect the unique characteristics of the new Tay Ninh province.”
Five years ago, Ms. Le Thi My Ly (from An Giang province) moved to Tan An City, Long An province (formerly) to work. For a long time, the kindness of the land and people of Long An made Ms. Ly consider it her second home. When the name Long An province was discontinued, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.
Ms. Ly said: “I often tell my relatives about Long An, a generous and sincere province. Not only me, but many migrant workers like me who come to Long An feel this way. Long An has welcomed us, providing job opportunities and a very good living environment. I believe that with the existing foundations, after the merger, the new Tay Ninh province will open up many opportunities for those who want to be connected to this land of kindness and compassion.”
The implementation of the administrative unit reorganization policy has had a certain impact on the thoughts and feelings of cadres, Party members, and the people. This is understandable, because every Vietnamese person deeply cherishes memories and images of their hometown, the place where they were born and raised. However, through General Secretary To Lam 's statement, "the country is our homeland," many were moved to silence, because it was not only a call to action for a historic administrative reform but also reflected the strategic vision of the Party and the State. This further affirms that the revolution in administrative unit reorganization will open up vast development opportunities, elevating the homeland to new heights.
On July 1st, many administrative unit names will cease to exist, but we believe that with the existing foundation and love for our homeland, the Party Committee, government, and people of Tay Ninh province will continue to write a proud and heroic epic in the journey ahead.
