On humid days, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chinh's shop on Ho Tung Mau Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi ) has to operate at full capacity. There are times when Ms. Chinh's shop has to wash an average of 100 kilograms of clothes per day, the number of orders increases 5 times more than usual. Due to the large number of orders, Ms. Chinh has to mobilize more family members to help, working through the night to deliver orders on time to customers.
"During the long humid days, my family's washing machines have to operate at full capacity. On peak days, my store has to wash up to a ton of clothes. Due to the increase in orders, the machines have to operate almost from morning to night to deliver orders to customers on time," said Ms. Chinh.
According to her, normally, she would return the goods to customers on the same day, but in this humid season, for clothing orders that need to be carefully laundered such as dresses with many details, white clothes, she usually makes an appointment for customers to return the order the next day.
According to Lao Dong reporters, in the areas of Tran Thai Tong, Xuan Thuy, Tran Cung... even though there is a laundry shop every few hundred meters, every place is packed with clothes with the number of customers 3-5 times higher than usual.
Ms. Khanh Ninh (owner of a spa on Tran Quoc Hoan Street, Cau Giay, Hanoi) said that she often uses laundry services at stores near her house; on average, she uses them 3-4 times a week. However, with the current humid weather, she has to wash her clothes every day.
"The humid weather creates favorable conditions for germs and bacteria to grow, potentially causing respiratory diseases, especially for clothing products. Therefore, to protect the health of their families and loved ones, many families bring their clothes to the laundry shop, which helps keep the clothes fragrant and prevents bacteria from growing, affecting health," said Ms. Khanh Ninh.
As a student renting a room without a dryer, clothes take about 3-4 days to dry at home, but still feel damp and moldy. Phi Thi Hien (student of the Academy of Journalism and Communication) chooses to take her clothes to the laundry because she is afraid of affecting her health.
Ms. Hien said: "This morning, I brought my clothes to be washed at Tran Thai Tong, but right now the shops are very crowded, many shops near my house are overloaded, not accepting any more clothes, so I have to bring my clothes to be washed at a shop far away," Ms. Hien said.
These days, laundry prices at some stores have increased slightly, about 5 - 10%. The price for washing wool blankets will range from 45,000 - 90,000 VND/item, depending on the size.
For clothes such as suits, vests, silk clothes, designer clothes... to ensure that the clothes do not change shape after being cleaned, customers often choose dry cleaning. A dry-cleaned vest costs about 70,000 VND/piece, a jacket costs about 90,000 VND/piece. The price for cleaning shoes is about 50,000 - 60,000 VND/pair.
According to the forecast, from now until March 18, the weather in the North will remain drizzle, humid, cold at night and in the morning. In the face of prolonged humid weather, people are advised to regularly clean household appliances and items with a dry cloth, especially wooden items.
