Gia Loc farmers sell early winter vegetables at the highest price of 12 million VND/sao

Farmers in Gia Luong commune (Gia Loc) start harvesting cabbage early.

Farmers in some communes of Gia Loc district such as Hoang Dieu, Gia Luong... started harvesting winter vegetables early, mainly cabbage. Compared to last year, the harvest time was 15-20 days later, mainly due to the impact of storm No. 3 which killed vegetables, forcing farmers to replant.

The selling price at the field fluctuates from 10 to 12 million VND/sao of cabbage, depending on the type. Compared to last year, this selling price is 2 to 3 million VND/sao higher. With such a selling price, after deducting expenses, farmers still make a profit of 6 to 7 million VND/sao, about 2 million VND/sao higher than last year.

This year, due to the influence of the weather, the vegetable fields have different quality, leading to different yields, ranging from 0.8 - 1.2 tons/sao, lower than last year from 0.1 - 0.3 tons/sao.

Farmers say the quality of vegetables this year is uneven, possibly due to weather effects.

This winter crop, Gia Loc district strives to grow 2,800 hectares of vegetables. Every year, winter vegetables always bring high income to local people.
