Although winter vegetables are currently experiencing price drops, farmers in Hai Duong are not overly discouraged because the early winter crop has already yielded high profits. They are actively tending to the next crop to ensure it's ready for sale during Tet (Lunar New Year). Compared to the beginning of the season, the prices of these vegetables have dropped sharply. According to Mr. Pham Van Tinh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hung Dao commune (Tu Ky district), in recent days, kohlrabi has been purchased by traders at the field for 1,000 VND/bulb, down from 2,000-3,000 VND/bulb, and cauliflower for 3,000 VND/plant, down from 4,500 VND/plant.

In Le Loi commune (Gia Loc district), the price of cabbage purchased by traders at the field is only 5,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 4,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the season.

At the beginning of the season, the prices of these vegetables were high, and farmers earned a profit of 7-9 million VND per sao (approximately 1000 square meters). With the current selling price, kohlrabi growers are only breaking even, while cabbage and cauliflower still yield a profit of 3-4 million VND per sao.

Some traders say that compared to last year, this year's winter vegetables are growing and developing better, with more attractive appearances due to favorable weather conditions. The area planted with winter crops in many localities in the province has expanded compared to last year.

In addition, the abundant supply of winter vegetables in many provinces and cities has led to an oversupply.

According to some farmers, the drop in prices of winter vegetables is not unusual. Every year at this time, the price of winter vegetables also falls, and there are even periods when they cannot be sold, forcing farmers to throw them away.

Despite the current drop in vegetable prices, farmers in Hai Duong are still actively planting and tending to the next winter crop to supply the Tet market, as vegetables usually fetch better prices during Tet than they do now.

According to our reporter's findings, several other key vegetable crops in Hai Duong, such as carrots, onions, and garlic, are also developing well, with few pests and diseases, and are expected to be harvested before and after Tet (Lunar New Year).
