BHG - * Due to increasingly complex climate changes and to proactively respond to unusual weather and prolonged rains, farmers in localities in the province are urgently harvesting spring rice following the motto "green at home is better than ripe in the fields", in order to ensure food security, contributing to the successful completion of agricultural production goals in 2025.
In Bac Quang district, this year's Spring crop, the whole district planted nearly 3,000 hectares of rice, reaching 102% of the plan; of which, there were more than 1,200 hectares of early Spring rice. Thanks to the selection of suitable varieties and the application of technical advances in production, the early rice area grew well and is now entering the harvest season, with an estimated yield of 6 tons/ha. However, in the face of unfavorable weather conditions and potential risks, the district has directed communes and towns to mobilize maximum human resources and means to speed up the rice harvest. Up to now, people have harvested about 20% of the rice area.

This year's Spring crop, the whole province planted more than 9,000 hectares of rice. In particular, the early Spring rice crop is mainly in key production areas such as Bac Quang, Quang Binh and Vi Xuyen districts. For safe production, the Department of Agriculture has issued documents directing and requesting localities to continue to propagate and guide people to do a good job of caring for and preventing pests and diseases on late rice crops and to quickly and neatly harvest ripe rice crops. At the same time, the land must be prepared immediately after harvesting, deep plowing of stubble is carried out, water is retained in the fields, and lime powder is sprinkled to limit pests and diseases before planting the Summer-Autumn rice crop.

Currently, people in lowland communes have begun harvesting early spring rice, with expected productivity and output increasing. Late-planted spring rice is in the flowering and milky stage. People need to actively take care of and monitor the development of pests and diseases to promptly handle them, ensuring a successful spring crop.
