Six suspects were brought to court one after another. The acting judge said the case would be divided into three smaller cases for trial.
Among them, Anthony Kwong (31 years old, driver, brother of the victim's ex-husband), Alex Kwong (28 years old, unemployed and ex-husband of the victim), Kwong Kau (65 years old, retired police officer, ex-father of the victim) continued to be charged with Murder.
Jenny Li Sui-heung (63 years old, female, retired, former mother-in-law of the victim) was charged with obstruction of justice. She deleted text messages and audio files of conversations to conceal the crimes of her husband and children.
A cruise company employee named Lin (Alex Kwong's close friend) was charged with helping Alex escape. A woman named Pun (Alex Kwong's new girlfriend) was charged with aiding and abetting a crime. They were given additional bail and signed an agreement not to have direct or indirect contact with the prosecution's witnesses.

In this trial, the defendants do not need to speak, they only have to watch the prosecution present evidence, read the case report and the proceedings.
Police have so far seized 30 pieces of evidence including a saw, hammer, kitchen utensils and personal belongings. Through DNA testing, blood stains on the car seat and two hind limbs found at the house where the murder took place in Longwei, Taipo all belong to the victim, Thai Thien Phuong.
In addition, a jacket containing Ms. Jenny Li Sui-heung's DNA was also found at the scene.
Thai Thien Phuong's mother, her husband and her current parents-in-law are considered new witnesses, and many pieces of evidence have not been tested yet, so the trial will be postponed until July 31 for the police to supplement and strengthen the case file.
After the court adjourned, four members of Tsai’s ex-husband’s family were taken back to the police station. Lin and Pun were released on bail of HK$50,000, but were not allowed to contact witnesses. Ms. Jenny Li Sui-heungg applied for bail again, but the judge rejected it.

Thien Phuong went missing on February 21 and her body was found on February 24 at the apartment Kwong Kau rented in January.
To destroy the DNA and hinder the investigation into the victim's identity, the suspect dismembered and disposed of the body immediately after committing the crime.
Police had previously found part of her body in one of two large soup pots at the crime scene. The rest of her body has yet to be found.
