People's Artist Quang Tho once advised Tung Duong to give up chamber music and sing contemporary music.

Attending the MV launch of Phoenix Wings by singer Tung Duong in Hanoi , People's Artist Quang Tho shared interesting things about his student.

He told about the time when Tung Duong first entered music school, studying intermediate level: "I taught Tung Duong since he was a skinny, sickly student. Tung Duong's parents were in Russia so Tung Duong's aunt was the parent's representative who came to ask me.

I was very weak at that time, when I started singing, the classical chamber music curriculum was a bit heavy but I still tried to finish 4 years of intermediate level. After that, I realized that Tung Duong switched to singing light music, contemporary music was more suitable.

I discussed it with Tung Duong's parents and they accepted. I advised Tung Duong to study vocal techniques. In my opinion, that will help him sing and touch the hearts of listeners. During the teaching process, I always teach students to think about the audience more than themselves. They should learn from their friends, from real life, and from life itself."

People's Artist Quang Tho is also the one who encouraged Tung Duong to sing in a new style and is proud of his student's success. "For many years, I have followed and encouraged Tung Duong to sing in a new style. He is a very dynamic singer and always seeks new things, and is equipped with the basic knowledge of an artist, so his singing can fly further and reach the listeners more easily.

Of course there will be some people who do not agree with that singing style but I think the majority love it, especially young audiences. I am proud to have students like Tung Duong," he added.

Previously, Tung Duong admitted that he was greatly influenced by his teacher - People's Artist Quang Tho. "People's Artist Quang Tho has guided me for more than 10 years at the Conservatory of Music. I have learned many wonderful and meaningful things from him. He is a person with musical techniques and standard emotional singing. I am as strong as I am today thanks to the years of vocal training with him.

I remember from the first vocal lesson, the teacher guided me. During the teaching process, I felt that he had a progressive mindset and understood the personality of his students. Thanks to studying the foundation of classical music, my voice is now as thick as it is," Tung Duong expressed.

Not only telling memories about Tung Duong's school days, People's Artist Quang Tho also expressed his impression of his student's new MV.

MV Phoenix Wings , reached more than 1 million views on the first day of release. The song, composed by Mars Anh Tú (Tu Dua), opens with symbolic lyrics, with the image of a beautiful woman, walking leisurely in life, with a hidden spiritual strength to overcome all storms.

The MV also marks the collaboration between Tung Duong and rapper Double 2T. Double2T's rap was written by poet Phan Huyen Thu, borrowing many historical allusions from Vietnamese history.

The male singer invited People's Artist Le Khanh, People's Artist Thanh Lam, Meritorious Artist Linh Nga, Miss Ha Kieu Anh, former wushu athlete Nguyen Thuy Hien to film the MV. The post-production took 6 months, using VFX techniques. After Canh chim phoenix , Tung Duong will release the album Da vu tru and perform a live show at the end of November.
