He said: “This is the second time I have sung a duet on this stage, once with Hoai Lam and now with Manh Quynh.
My brother and I chose this song to tell the audience that those children who have to live far away from home for money and food, and do not have the conditions to return home to celebrate Tet with their families. I want to send this song to them to share and comfort them a little.
One more thing, up until now people have often seen Manh Quynh singing with my younger sister. Now I want to sing with Manh Quynh to have something to remember my younger sister. Hopefully somewhere, my younger sister can see us."

Manh Quynh also confided: “Everyone knows that for the past 3 years, since Phi Nhung passed away, I have not sung any traditional music or any other traditional songs. Today, I have just decided to sing traditional music.
This song, I wrote about the feelings of two young men who came to Saigon to start a career. One is from the Central region, represented by Hoai Linh, and the other is from the West, represented by me.
As soon as I was informed of the duet with Hoai Linh, I immediately wrote a vọng cổ song about spring. I would like to use this stage to wish Hoai Linh not only 30 years but also 40 years, many years to come to bring his songs, his voice, and his smile to audiences everywhere."

Singer Phi Nhung was born in 1970, from Gia Lai , and came to the US in the late 1980s. Starting her career singing charity songs at temples, she gradually became successful in the overseas music scene with many "hits", such as: Ly con sao Bac Lieu (Phan Ni Tan); Falling in love with a girl from Ben Tre (music: Phan Ni Tan, poetry: Luan Hoan). In 2005, Phi Nhung returned to Vietnam and continued to pursue folk music. In addition to singing, she also adopted many orphans. In September 2021, the female singer passed away after two months of contracting Covid-19.
Phi Nhung and Manh Quynh were a harmonious duet on stage. Around the end of 1998 and the beginning of 2000, in the album " Farewell to the Century" , Manh Quynh and Phi Nhung sang the song " Even though I'm poor" (To Thanh Tung) for the first time. The harmony in their popular performing style and lyrical voices helped them become the "golden duet" of lyrical music. Both are remembered by the audience through the songs: "Noi lai tinh xua " (Ngan Giang); "Em ve mien thu" (Ha Phuong); "Kiep cam ca" (Huynh Anh)...
Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh once shared with the media that he and Phi Nhung had a "funny relationship". When he was young, he lived in Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa). After he moved to the US to pursue an acting career, Phi Nhung moved to Cam Ranh. When she first moved to Florida (US) - where Hoai Linh lived at that time, he had to move to California. Later, thanks to singer Trizzie Phuong Trinh - a close senior - connecting them, they met and began to have many opportunities to collaborate. "From now on, I can only sing with Phi Nhung's children, but I still keep the precious memories of the two of us," he once said.
