Female director tells Kinh Bac story with art and love for homeland

The program "Bac Ninh - a thousand years of culture - Aspiration to rise in the new era" to celebrate the recent establishment of Bac Ninh province (new) directed by Thu Hoai was a big challenge and also a time to overcome a difficult threshold in her career, bringing many special emotions to her.

The program “Bac Ninh, a thousand years of culture - Aspiration to rise in the new era” is a “great honor - great pressure” for director Thu Hoai when she was assigned the role of General Director, even though she has set many “records” in her profession.

Considered a “Bac Ninh concert” imbued with Kinh Bac culture, the program attracted 30,000 viewers from two television stations at Kinh Bac Cultural Center Square and 3/2 Square of Bac Ninh province.

Thu Hoai believes that a good program must create connections and bring about surging emotions. With a land rich in traditional cultural beauty like Kinh Bac countryside, choosing the “good-beautiful-identity-quintessence” to express is extremely difficult. If we put everything into one program, it will be a descriptive script in a list-like style, very dry and boring.

With talent, courage and love for the homeland, Thu Hoai and her colleagues have created and built a convincing script, calculating to turn a chapter-style program into a story rich in connections and softness through many artistic languages, sometimes music , sometimes performance, interactive led dance, combining shadow dance and 3D mapping .

More specifically, this is also a game of modern and classy Dronelight art performance technology that creates great attraction on the home stage. For the first time, 3D mapping and Holograme are applied to perform on a large screen of up to nearly ^500m2 at two television wave points, in an effort to achieve maximum effectiveness for the program.

It can be said that for the first time in Bac Ninh, the audience can enjoy and fully feel the power of art combined with technology, of music mixed with national pride, and of the aspiration for the future that is lighting up Kinh Bac land.

The impression from the program is the successful combination of artistic expressive elements and modern performance technology. Large stage, many layers, 3D mapping light, sharp visual image system...

The program also recreates the beautiful traditional customs on both banks of the Cau River with Quan Ho art - an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Making an art program honoring a locality or a land, perhaps the most difficult thing is understanding the regional culture. Thu Hoai's greatest advantage is that she was born and raised on the banks of the Cau River, so her childhood and later life were imbued with ancient Quan Ho songs in her speech and lifestyle. And these beauties were skillfully and vividly incorporated into the script.

In the homeland of Quan Ho, "a ray of sunshine also carries folk songs" and only by immersing myself in the singing can I feel and deeply understand the source of Quan Ho culture throughout the history of the nation, permeating every habit, every word. Therefore, not only understanding, not stopping at love, I always strive to share and spread the beauty of culture and pride in my homeland through the program.

The beauty of the long-standing "custom of matchmaking" of her homeland was also mentioned by Thu Hoai in the program, rekindling the connection of ancient quan ho villages on both the north and south banks of the Cau River.

Thanks to that, Quan Ho artists from both sides of the river have bonded, exchanged and created creativity in cultural activities. That culture has been passed on, nurtured, preserved and created a strong influence until today when Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs have become a heritage of humanity.

And, today, they share the same pride in Kinh Bac's thousand-year-old culture, blending together the same historical-cultural-spiritual flow as well as many comprehensive socio-economic factors, together aiming for "The aspiration to rise in the new era".

With three chapters: “The flow of history - A thousand years of culture”, “From traditional craft villages to the northern industrial capital” and “Shining the land of aspirations”, the program took viewers through a vivid journey, reminiscent through symbols, images and typical cultural values of Kinh Bac expressed through the language of music, light, through animations, dialogues, video clips… according to a consistent theme with the messages contained therein.

The impressive lighting and stage design created moments of “brilliant fireworks”, creating a strong connection. In the night sky of Bac Ninh, historical figures, symbolic images of the homeland such as Kinh Duong Vuong - the founder of the nation, Ly Thai To with the Proclamation on the Transfer of the Capital, Ly Thuong Kiet and the divine poem “Nam Quoc Son Ha”, the hero in cloth Hoang Hoa Tham, the victory of Xuong Giang, Dau Pagoda, Phat Tich Pagoda, But Thap Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and even the image of a simple lychee bunch… seemed to come to life with brilliant light, making thousands of spectators feel like they were living in a legend right on their homeland.

The history of the Kinh Bac people and land is vividly and attractively presented.

An important contribution to the success of the program is the role of music, both traditional and contemporary, supporting an overall art program that conveys a cultural story. In it, the quintessence of Kinh Bac folk performing arts converges, such as: Quan Ho folk songs, duet songs and mashups that were first introduced such as: “Trinh que huong quan ho”, “Qua cau song Thuong”… A series of songs were staged: “Kinh Bac”, “Bac Ninh to shine”, “Bac Ninh take off”, “Con duong phat giao”, or “Tam ao chien si me va nam xua”… and also folk songs and nursery rhymes such as “Dat bach nghe” successively creating an epic of the land, depicting the depth of history. That is the path of spreading Buddhism, the tradition of studiousness, revolution and culture of the land of a thousand years of civilization.

Images of Dong Ho paintings and Kinh Bac cultural symbols are also recreated on stage and in the night sky of Bac Ninh.

Besides the emotional performances of famous artists such as People's Artists: Quoc Hung, Thuy Huong and artists, singers: Luong Nguyet Anh, Dinh Manh Ninh, Tran Tung Anh,... a highlight of the program is the spectacular performance of singer Hoa Minzy, who is "hot" in the Vietnamese youth music scene with the song "Bac Bling" with the participation of nearly 3,000 actors and students, creating a record-breaking performance on the Vietnamese stage.

What is special is that female singer Hoa Minzy performed at both television stations, bringing excitement and impression to the program.
