During the spring business trip, we were introduced by teacher Ha Thu Dung, Principal of Ngoc Lac Ethnic Minority High School ( Thanh Hoa ) about teacher Le Thi Lan - Head of the school's History subject group, who has just been awarded the noble title of Meritorious Teacher (MET) in 2023 - the first female MET of this school.

Teacher Le Thi Lan is 43 years old this year, and has nearly 20 years of experience directly teaching History to many generations of students. Teacher Lan was born and raised in Thieu Ly commune, Thieu Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province. Before transferring to Ngoc Lac Ethnic Minority High School (in 2017), Ms. Lan was a History teacher at Cam Thuy 3 High School (Cam Thuy mountainous district, Thanh Hoa).

"The title of Associate Professor is the dream of many people inthe education sector. I personally feel very happy and moved to receive this noble title. This is a recognition for an individual, but there is a contribution from the collective because it creates conditions for me to strive my best," Ms. Lan emotionally shared.

In 2006, Ms. Lan graduated from the Faculty of Pedagogy, Hong Duc University (Thanh Hoa), and was assigned to be a History teacher at Cam Thuy 3 High School. For nearly 20 years of working, she has always been passionate about her profession, researching and creating to improve teaching quality, inspiring a love of History for generations of students.

"History is always considered a minor subject by students and even their parents, but it is very difficult to learn because of the many facts and information. In fact, this is a very interesting subject. However, how to make students see that it is important?

Therefore, along with flexibly applying different forms of classroom organization, I also combine many teaching methods, such as: creative experiential activities, games, images, videos , stories... for students to participate. From these methods, students feel more interested and love the subject", Ms. Lan confided.

Currently, as Head of the Professional Group, Ms. Le Thi Lan regularly advises and directs innovative teaching and assessment methods. At the same time, she organizes experiential and skill-building activities for her students. In addition, Ms. Lan always focuses on improving the professional capacity of teachers in the group, contributing to the comprehensive development of students' abilities.

During 17 years of work, Ms. Lan has had 5 outstanding topics and initiatives recognized by Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.

At the same time, female teacher Le Thi Lan was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the groundswell level 8 times, once achieved the title of excellent teacher at the provincial level and received a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee.

Received a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for achievements in innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning in the 2022-2023 school year and teacher Lan was also awarded the title of Outstanding Teacher of Thanh Hoa in 2023.

During the years of directly teaching History, teacher Lan has trained 28 excellent students at the provincial level (including 1 first prize, 6 second prizes, 11 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes).

In 2022, Ms. Lan had 2 students win provincial prizes in the 12th grade cultural subject competition (both third prizes). In 2023, 1 student won second prize at the provincial level.

In addition, in 2022, teacher Lan also had 5 students win provincial prizes for "Learning the History of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee" with 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 2 consolation prizes.

Notably, in the 2023 high school graduation exam, the History subject taught by Associate Professor Le Thi Lan had an average score of 8.50 points. Ranked 1/130 high schools in Thanh Hoa province. There were 56 students with a total score of 27 points or higher (including 16 students with a total score of 28.0 points or higher) in 3 university entrance exams. There were 51 students with a score of 9.0 points or higher and 1 student with a score of 10 in History.

Developing key education in mountainous areas

Meritorious Student Le Thi Lan achieved that achievement thanks to her tireless efforts, along with the support of the school's management staff and staff.
