North Korean leader Kim Jong-un invited soldiers from the 2nd Red Flag Company of the General Rocket Department to the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Korean Central News Agency reported on December 21.
These are the soldiers who participated in the launch of the Hwasong-18 solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) earlier this week.
At the meeting held on December 20, Mr. Kim Jong-un praised the soldiers for “demonstrating practical actions,” “resolutely loyal” to “the Workers’ Party, government , army and people of the DPRK” and “successfully carrying out combat orders,” thereby highlighting “the reliability and courage of the DPRK’s strategic nuclear force.”
According to Mr. Kim Jong-un, the recent ICBM launch shows Pyongyang's "active countermeasure" of "not hesitating to launch a nuclear attack" against any nuclear provocation.
Leader Kim Jong-un stressed that North Korea's sovereignty can only be guaranteed through strong power, saying that true self-defense comes from the ability to take the initiative to attack.
