Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

On the afternoon of August 26, at the 8th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly , 439/439 National Assembly deputies present (91.27% of the total number of National Assembly deputies) voted to pass the Resolution on electing Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien as Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

With the National Assembly passing this resolution, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien became the successor of Mr. Le Minh Tri - who was recently elected to hold the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien was born in 1968 and has a working history closely associated with the prosecution industry.

In 2015, he was the Chief Justice of the High People's Procuracy in Hanoi .

Nearly two years later, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien was appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Corruption Cases, a position under the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam, while he was a Senior Prosecutor.

In September 2018,the President issued a decision appointing Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien to the position of Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy and continued to be appointed as Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy, according to the President's decision.

In April 2020, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien was appointed to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Supreme People's Procuracy and assumed the position of Permanent Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy two months later.

In June 2020, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien was assigned by the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy to directly direct the work of 6 units and 25 local People's Procuracies in the Northern region. At this time, he was also the Chairman of the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigator Selection Council.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy has the duty to lead, direct, guide, inspect, and examine the implementation of tasks, work plans, and the construction of the People's Procuracy. The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy has the right to prescribe the working apparatus of the Supreme People's Procuracy and submit it to the National Assembly Standing Committee for approval...

The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy has the right to submit to the President the appointment, dismissal, and removal of the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy and Prosecutors of the Supreme People's Procuracy.

This person also has the right to appoint, dismiss, and remove Senior Prosecutors, Intermediate Prosecutors, Primary Prosecutors, Investigators of all ranks, Inspectors of all ranks; to appoint, dismiss, and remove leadership and management positions under his/her authority.
