Mr. Nguyen Van Thang becomes Minister of Finance - Lang Son Newspaper

The National Assembly approved the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Finance for the 2021-2026 term.

On November 28, the Resolution approving the Prime Minister 's proposal to appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Finance for the 2021-2026 term was conducted by electronic voting.

As a result, 452/452 National Assembly delegates participating in the vote approved the Resolution.

Thus, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang became the successor of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc in the position of Commander of the Finance sector.

Previously, the National Assembly passed a resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Van Thang from the position of Minister of Transport for the 2021-2026 term.

New Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang was born on September 12, 1973, his hometown is Hanoi. He has a PhD in Monetary Theory Finance and a Senior in Political Theory.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang is a member of the Party Central Committee, 12th (alternate), 13th; National Assembly Delegate, 14th, 15th.

During his career, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang held the following positions: Head of Large Corporate Customer Department, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank); Director of Vietinbank - Hanoi Branch; Acting General Director and then General Director of Vietinbank; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietinbank; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province; Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.

In October 2022, at the 4th Session, the 15th National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, to hold the position of Minister of Transport for the 2021-2026 term.
