According to sources from VTC News online, Mr. Tran Anh Tu unexpectedly requested to step down from his leadership positions at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) for personal reasons. Mr. Tran Anh Tu currently holds the position of Vice President in charge of professional affairs of the Vietnam Football Federation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the VPF.
On the afternoon of March 12th, the Vietnam Football Federation confirmed that Mr. Tran Anh Tu had submitted a resignation letter to the Standing Committee of the Executive Board, requesting to step down from his current positions. The organization has received the letter and will report on it at the next Executive Board meeting.
Mr. Tran Anh Tu is also the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation. This businessman has a long-standing connection with Vietnamese football. His most notable contribution is his investment in futsal (indoor football), which helped Vietnam qualify for the World Cup twice in this discipline.

In addition, Mr. Tran Anh Tu has also made significant contributions to the development of women's football in Vietnam, through his sponsorship of several teams and the national championship.
In December 2017, Mr. Tran Anh Tu was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), and was re-elected twice in 2020 and 2023. At the 9th VFF Congress held at the end of 2022, Mr. Tran Anh Tu was the sole candidate for the position of Vice President in charge of professional affairs. He was elected with 100% of the votes.
