According to the obituary from his family, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hien passed away at 3:15 p.m. on May 11, at the age of 91.
The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. on May 12 to 6:00 a.m. on May 13 at Group 09, Tan Thanh Street, Tan Dan Ward, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho. The funeral and burial ceremony for Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hien will take place at 6:30 a.m. on May 13.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hien, former Vice Principal of Hanoi University of Foreign Languages and Literature from 1974 to 1978 (now University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi), former Deputy Director of the Institute of Content and Methods of General Education.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hien is the author of the proposal to reform the Vietnamese alphabet that once caused strong controversy. He proposed to reform the national language such as reducing the number of consonants from 38 to 31 characters. At that time, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hien proposed to change the phonemic values of 11 existing letters: C = Ch, Tr; D = Đ; G = G, Gh; F = Ph; K = C, Q, K; Q = Ng, Ngh; R = R; S = S; X = Kh; W = Th; Z = d, gi, r.
Accordingly, the word "Education" will be improved to "Záo zụk", "Vietnamese" to "tieq Viet"...
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hien was born in 1935, in Phu Tho province. He is a Russian language lecturer, Russian language researcher and educational administrator. He has been associated with the University of Foreign Languages Education since October 1955 when he was assigned to be in charge of the Russian language department. In 1974, he was appointed as vice principal of the University of Foreign Languages Education.
