Reasons why iPhone 15 heats up

Apple says certain apps can cause the iPhone to overheat, including Instagram, Uber, and the popular racing game Asphalt 9. But in some cases, users have reported that their iPhones are getting unusually hot even when they're not using these apps.

Apple said that iPhones can get hotter when users set up the device for the first time, restore data from a backup, charge the phone wirelessly, or play graphically demanding games or stream high-quality video .

Meanwhile, technology expert Ming-Chi Kuo - who regularly provides and analyzes information about Apple - said that the reason the iPhone 15 Pro overheats is due to the titanium material that Apple uses to make the phone's frame.

Choosing titanium material to make the iPhone lighter has unintentionally made the phone more difficult to dissipate heat. Not to mention that the iPhone 15 is small in size, so the heat dissipation efficiency is even lower, leading to the device being able to heat up quickly, even overheating.

How to fix iPhone 15 overheating

If you've purchased an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max and are finding them getting too hot during use, here are some things you can try to help control the temperature.

Turn on Low Power Mode. This will disable features like the iPhone 15 Pro’s super-smooth “ProMotion” display and reduce the iPhone’s CPU and GPU performance. It also keeps the phone from getting uncomfortably hot.

To keep your device performing at its best, make sure it's running the latest version of iOS. Software updates often come with tweaks that reduce the risk of overheating.

Turn off background activity for some apps. In the "Settings" app, tap "General," then tap "Background App Refresh." Here, you'll see which apps have permission to run even when you're not actively using them.

Be sure to turn off apps you know you won’t need, and consider disabling background activity for some apps like Uber and Instagram, at least temporarily. Also, if you notice your device’s battery is running low, consider replacing it to ensure your device is running at its best and avoid overheating.
