On August 3, the Department of Transport sent a notice to relevant agencies and units about the organization of traffic flow on Ho Chi Minh road through Kon Tum city for implementation.

Accordingly, after the Ministry of Transport decided to adjust the Ho Chi Minh road section through Kon Tum city into a local road and decided to hand over this road section (from Km1542+750 to Km1562+250) to local management, to ensure traffic, the Department of Transport announced the organization of traffic diversion of the Ho Chi Minh road section through Kon Tum city.
Specifically, for vehicles traveling along Ho Chi Minh Road, all passenger vans and trucks traveling from North to South and vice versa without departure or arrival stations (for fixed-route vehicles), pick-up and drop-off points (for contract vehicles and tourist vehicles) and loading and unloading points (for trucks) in Kon Tum City must follow the Kon Tum City bypass route from Km1542+750 to Km1562+250 (not entering the central area of Kon Tum City via Phan Dinh Phung Street and Pham Van Dong Street). Particularly for passenger vans and trucks traveling to Sa Thay and Ia H'Drai districts, vehicles traveling from North to South enter the center of Kon Tum City at Km1542+750, go to the intersection of Phan Dinh Phung - Vo Nguyen Giap - Nguyen Huu Tho, turn right and follow Provincial Road 675 to Sa Thay and Ia H'Drai districts and vice versa; Vehicles going from South to North follow the Ho Chi Minh road bypass to Km1542+750, turn left into Kon Tum city center, go to the intersection of Phan Dinh Phung - Vo Nguyen Giap - Nguyen Huu Tho, turn right and follow Provincial Road 675 to Sa Thay district, Ia H'Drai and vice versa.
For vehicles traveling along National Highway 24 from Kon Plong district towards Kon Tum city, all passenger vans and trucks heading towards Kon Tum city to go towards Dak Ha district or Gia Lai province, if there is no departure or arrival station (for fixed-route vehicles), pick-up and drop-off points (for contract vehicles, tourist vehicles) and loading and unloading points (for trucks) in Kon Tum city, then follow the bypass route to the North and South and vice versa (do not go into the center of Kon Tum city). Particularly for passenger vans and trucks going to Sa Thay and Ia H'Drai districts, vehicles following the bypass route of Ho Chi Minh road to the North to Km1542+750 turn left into the center of Kon Tum city, go to the intersection of Phan Dinh Phung - Vo Nguyen Giap - Nguyen Huu Tho streets, turn right and follow Provincial Road 675 to Sa Thay and Ia H'Drai districts and vice versa.
Also according to the Department of Transport, within 1 month (from August 5 to September 5, 2023), it will organize propaganda and guidance, inspection and reminder for people and vehicles participating in traffic on the Ho Chi Minh Highway in the North-South direction and vice versa to divert to the Ho Chi Minh Highway following the bypass section through Kon Tum city as above, not going through the city center on the old route. From September 6, 2023, the authorities will begin patrolling, controlling and handling violating vehicles according to regulations.
