Vietnamese cuisine attracts foreign tourists because of its diversity and uniqueness in both form and flavor, but there are dishes that not everyone dares to try, such as shrimp paste, raw coconut worms, balut, etc.

For Chris Lewis (American blogger), " cuisine is the gateway to culture". Therefore, although there are Vietnamese dishes that make Westerners "turn pale" and hesitate to eat, he still boldly experiences and enjoys them.

"If you go anywhere and don't try the food, you're missing out on a big part of it. In Asian countries, the cuisine is completely different from what I've had back home in the US.

Among them, there are dishes that are considered strange and scary to foreigners, and even some Vietnamese people do not dare to try them. For example, the dish "blood soup", or roughly translated as "blood soup", Chris said.

The American male blogger was delighted to be treated to duck blood pudding at a Vietnamese friend's house (Photo cut from clip).

On his personal Youtube channel, the American blogger also happily shared his feelings about the experience of duck blood pudding when visiting a friend's house in Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, Chris was treated to many delicious duck dishes by the host such as boiled duck, duck porridge, etc. and he was surprised by the blood pudding dish.

"The duck blood is beaten until it thickens like jelly. This is a very special Vietnamese dish," Chris described.

Blood pudding is a favorite dish of many Vietnamese people, but makes foreign tourists wary, afraid and even afraid to try it (Photo: Popular Drinks).

In Vietnam, blood pudding is a fresh dish made from fresh animal blood (commonly duck, pig and goat blood), mixed with a little fish sauce or salt water to "keep" it from congealing before mixing with minced meat and animal cartilage.

Blood pudding is often served with herbs and crushed roasted peanuts, with a squeeze of lemon juice to reduce the fishy smell or enhance the aroma of the dish. When eating, people use a spoon to cut into small pieces and enjoy.

Blood pudding is quite popular in the North, often appearing at many cheap eateries and sidewalk stalls with prices ranging from 10,000 - 30,000 VND/small bowl, depending on the ingredients.

Chris said he had enjoyed blood pudding before but didn't like it very much. However, this time he had a different feeling and was surprised after seasoning it fully and tasting the first bite.

"The taste is quite good. When I eat it, I don't think much about it. But before I tried it, I was a bit scared at first," said the male blogger.

After tasting the duck blood pudding, he and his friends happily enjoyed the remaining dishes and chatted together.

Not only Chris, Max McFarlin - a tourist and blogger from the US also enjoyed the Vietnamese duck blood pudding. Max has a special passion for Vietnamese cuisine, has eaten and loved dishes with "difficult" flavors such as animal organs, shrimp paste,...

During his recent visit to Quang Ngai, he enjoyed duck blood pudding. The male blogger was not afraid at all and even posted a video with the caption: "This dish is very delicious!" to share his feelings and enjoyment of the dish "not everyone dares to try in Vietnam".

According to the posted video, Max ate duck blood pudding with herbs and sesame rice paper (also known as rice paper, grilled rice paper). In addition, the American guy also enjoyed boiled duck, dipped in the local ginger fish sauce.

Although blood pudding makes many people afraid and do not dare to taste it, others enjoy the strange taste of this dish. However, blood can contain many dangerous bacteria and parasites, directly affecting health, so health experts have repeatedly warned against eating raw blood pudding.

Instead, diners can steam it before eating or enjoy dishes made from blood but cooked.
