On December 20, the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Team of Hue City Police said that the unit had just discovered a business using growth stimulants to grow bean sprouts located at 7/1/56 Duy Tan, An Cuu Ward, Hue City, owned by Mr. Le Thanh Vu (67 years old).

At the time of inspection, this facility did not have a business registration certificate. The police discovered in the bean sprout production area 4 white plastic cans of 4 liters without labels, containing a white liquid solution.

In his initial confession, Mr. Vu said that the chemicals in the plastic bottles were 6-Benzylaminopurine (growth stimulant) purchased in Ho Chi Minh City.

This facility uses the above chemical to mix with water to water the bean sprouts, stimulating the bean sprouts to develop blisters and short roots, then sell them to the Hue City market.

According to the police, this chemical is not allowed to be used in food production because when used in the human body it can cause acute poisoning, harming the health of consumers such as skin burns, conjunctivitis if in direct contact.

In particular, if a normal person accidentally inhales the gas from this chemical, it can cause damage to the respiratory system...

Hue City Police are continuing to consolidate the case file to strictly handle it according to the law.
