I found out that my mother-in-law's pension is 8 million but she spends it every month even though she doesn't spend anything. I told her to keep the money for emergencies and immediately suffered the consequences.

My mother-in-law is a talented woman, she used to work in the railway industry, she just retired 1 year ago with a salary of 8 million VND/month. My father-in-law used to be a driver, he has no pension, he still sits at a sidewalk shop selling iced tea every day.

My mother-in-law's pension is enough to comfortably cover the expenses of the two of them. However, since they live with us, my husband and I take care of all the living expenses. I thought that with my mother-in-law's personality, she would be extremely frugal. But no, I just discovered that every month after receiving her pension, she gives it all to my daughter - my sister-in-law.

"I love Lan so much," my mother-in-law always said this if we talked about her and her husband. My brother-in-law is a factory worker, with a meager salary, while Lan works as a seamstress at home, probably only earning a few million a month. So the two of them are financially poor, and their children are miserable. My mother-in-law loves them, and that's okay. I just didn't expect her to give them all 8 million.

One time I decided to advise her: "Mom, I think you should save some of that money for yourself. Who knows, you might need it later." What I meant was that maybe later when she gets sick, goes to the hospital, or needs it, it's better to have your own money.

But my mother-in-law immediately frowned and asked me: "You and your husband are financially well-off, the two of you earn at least 30-40 million VND per month, and yet you still want to take a few of my pension?"

I tried to swallow, tears welling up in my eyes. Why were kind words misunderstood like this? Even though we had lived together for so many years, it seemed like the trust between us was still not strong enough.

“Do you understand what I’m saying?” I asked softly, trying to keep my voice from shaking. “I don’t want you to suffer when you get old.”

“Everything I do is out of concern for you, Mom,” I added, then stood up and left.

I just didn't expect my mother-in-law to tell my brother-in-law about this. I don't know what they said to each other, but Lan suddenly came to my house and scolded me for breaking up her mother-daughter relationship. Her rich siblings didn't help her and even prevented her from helping... No matter how I explained, she still loudly overpowered me, telling me not to look at my mother's pension from now on. What my mother does and who she gives it to is her right.

I feel like I'm really holding on to straw, touching on money is really cruel, losing all family affection.
