Promoting the role of artists and writers in the new era.

On May 5th, the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ca Mau province held its first delegate congress for the 2026-2031 term.

Associate Professor, Dr. Do Hong Quan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Mr. Phan Thanh Duy, Head of the Organization Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, along with 270 members, attended the congress.

Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Quan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , delivered a speech at the Congress.

In his keynote address at the congress, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Hong Quan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, stated that Ca Mau is a province with a strong and well-established literary and artistic movement. The merger of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces into the new Ca Mau opens up new creative spaces and conditions for artists and writers.

Associate Professor, Dr. Do Hong Quan suggested that artists and writers in Ca Mau province should combine the promotion of traditional values ​​in literature and art with the application of digital technology in their creative work. At the same time, they should delve into unique details in social life to create works that reflect contemporary life, promoting and highlighting the land and people of Ca Mau.

Regarding the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations suggested that attention should be paid to nurturing and creating favorable conditions for young artists to have the opportunity to develop their youthful energy and new perspectives through cultural and artistic works. The Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations will continue to support Ca Mau province financially, as well as organize professional training courses and participate in creative camps to promote the development of literature and art in Ca Mau, befitting its position as the southernmost province of the country.

At the congress, Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, stated that in order to fulfill the mission of literature and art in the new era, the congress needs to fully understand the Party's viewpoint on literature and art. At the same time, it is necessary to better fulfill the mission of literature and art as guiding, directing, and inspiring; fighting to protect, nurture, and affirm the new, positive, and good; combating vices, bad habits, and social evils to strive towards the values ​​of truth, goodness, and beauty.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province expressed his wish that the team of artists and writers should create works of high ideological and artistic value; truthfully reflecting the process of reform, the aspiration for development, the beauty of the homeland and its people; reflecting the pulse of contemporary life and the rhythm of development of the southernmost region of the country. The artists and writers of Ca Mau province also need to keep up with the trends in literary and artistic creation in the digital age, from creative thinking, writing methods, ways of expression and public engagement… to the application of artificial intelligence, while valuing and ensuring the attractiveness, ideological depth and aesthetic value of the works.

At its first Congress, for the 2026-2031 term, the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations set forth the following targets: to build and develop one affiliated branch meeting the criteria to be upgraded to a full-fledged association; to have 25-30 provincial members admitted to central specialized associations; to host at least one regional-level literature and arts competition; to organize five creative writing camps, three thematic seminars and discussions; and to organize approximately 10 training courses, exchanges, and experience-sharing sessions in creative writing. In addition, the plan includes organizing about 20 exhibitions of contemporary art and photography, introducing new works; and improving the quality of the Ca Mau Literature and Arts Magazine and the website of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations to become a rich and engaging information channel, comprehensively and fully reflecting all aspects of the province's culture, literature, and arts.

The Executive Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, term I, 2026-2031, was introduced at the Congress.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations for the first term, 2026-2031, consisting of 19 members; Mr. Tran Ngoc An, Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the Journalists Association for the term 2020-2025, was re-elected to continue serving as Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations for the first term, 2026-2031.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province awarded Certificates of Commendation to collectives and individuals belonging to the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ca Mau province for their outstanding achievements in the field of literature and arts during the 2020-2025 term.
