Approved over 108 billion VND for forest environmental services

The Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to pay for forest environmental services with more than 108 billion VND for more than 205 thousand hectares of forest.

According to Decision No. 156/QD-UBND dated May 19, 2025, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee approved the forest area in the basin, unit price, and amount of forest environmental services paid to forest owners who are organizations; Commune-level People's Committees; communities in Lao Cai province; and individual households in Bao Thang district and Lao Cai city in 2024.

Accordingly, the total forest area converted according to coefficient K for payment of forest environmental services of 18 main basins is more than 205 hectares, the average unit price for payment of forest environmental services in each main basin is from 420 thousand to 1 million VND/ha.

Bao Thang has a large forest area.

There are 105 forest owners who are organizations, commune-level People's Committees, residential communities, and individual households in Bao Thang district and Lao Cai city located in the main basin that are paid for forest environmental services, with a total amount of forest environmental services of more than 108 billion VND.

Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee assigned Lao Cai Provincial Forest and Environment Protection Fund to coordinate with Lao Cai Department of Agriculture and Environment and related departments and branches; People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to guide and organize payment for forest environmental services to ensure accuracy and correct subjects.
