Pilot dies after plane crashes during French air show

"The pilot's body has been found," said the local authority responsible for the Var region in southern France. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash, the French government said.

The air show is part of celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings on D-Day in Provence during World War II.

The air show also featured the French Air Force's 'Patrouille de France' aerobatic team, which decided to cancel its performance at the event due to the accident.

The crash came just two days after two French Rafale fighter jets collided in eastern France, killing two servicemen and leaving only one survivor.
