Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong visited and congratulated cooperatives on the occasion of Vietnam Cooperatives' Traditional Day.

On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Cooperatives (Cooperatives) on April 11 (1946 - 2024), today, April 10, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of the Provincial Collective Economy Ha Sy Dong and leaders of the Provincial Cooperative Union, the Provincial Farmers' Association and a number of departments and branches visited and congratulated cooperatives in the province.

The delegation visited and presented flowers to congratulate the cooperatives including: Tich Tuong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hai Le commune, Quang Tri town); Dai An Khe Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hai Thuong commune, Hai Lang district); Ha Xa Agricultural and Forestry Production and Business Cooperative (Trieu Ai commune, Trieu Phong district).

At the places visited, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: With the dynamism and efforts of the cooperative community, more and more cooperative models have appeared with high efficiency, actively contributing to job creation, improving income for people, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and ensuring social security.

Besides positive changes, the collective economic sector of the province still has difficulties and limitations: Cooperatives have not developed evenly between localities, between the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors; although the number of cooperatives has increased, the average number of members in cooperatives tends to decrease; the internal strength of cooperatives is still weak; joint ventures and associations between cooperatives and between cooperatives and other economic organizations are not many...

From there, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, all levels, sectors, and mass organizations strengthen the dissemination of resolutions, programs, and policies of the central government and the province on the development of collective economy and cooperatives. Pay special attention to supporting "bottlenecks" related to training, fostering and improving the capacity and qualifications of cooperative officials to meet the tasks in the new period and piloting some models such as merging and consolidating agricultural cooperatives at the village level.

Strengthening the leadership, direction and administration of Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the role and responsibility of leaders in leadership and direction, improving management and administration capacity and implementing the task of developing collective economy and cooperatives.

Cooperatives and cooperative groups in the area need to promote internal strength, make the most of State support and provincial policies to overcome all difficulties and obstacles, be quick, dynamic, creative, adapt to market mechanisms; constantly strengthen financial capacity for cooperatives to become increasingly rich and strong...

As of December 31, 2023, the province has 310 agricultural cooperatives, 2 Cooperative Unions with 12,971 regular employees. The average revenue of a cooperative is 1.3 billion VND, the average profit of a cooperative is 125 million VND. There are 21 cooperatives participating in the OCOP Program with 33 OCOP products recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as 3-star and 4-star.
