On the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year - the Year of the Snake 2025, on the morning of January 16th, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" program and the "Trade Union Tet Market 2025"; visited, extended New Year greetings, and presented gifts to families of meritorious individuals in Hai Phong .

The Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party 2025 program is jointly organized by the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front .

Following the directives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Hai Phong City Party Committee regarding the implementation of Tet celebrations for workers, with particular attention to providing maximum support to union members and workers in difficult circumstances, the Hai Phong Confederation of Labor directed city-level trade unions to effectively utilize union finances according to their assigned levels; and mobilized employers and heads of agencies and units to work together to ensure a fulfilling Tet for each official, civil servant, employee, and worker in their units and enterprises. The average Tet bonus for workers reached 8.6 million VND per person.

It is expected that during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Rat 2025, Hai Phong will have over 350,000 trade union members and workers benefiting from Tet welfare activities organized by the city's trade unions, units, and businesses, with a total estimated budget of 2,600 billion VND.

Speaking at the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" program, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son extended his warmest greetings and best wishes for the New Year to the leaders, workers, civil servants, and all the people of Hai Phong City.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that in 2024, despite facing many difficulties and significant challenges, under the leadership of the Party and the direction and management of the Government, our country achieved important results in socio-economic development, strengthened national defense and security, expanded foreign relations, creating a solid foundation for the country to enter 2025, aiming to complete the goals set forth by the 13th Party Congress.

Specifically, Vietnam has achieved and surpassed all 15/15 key socio-economic development targets set by the National Assembly, including a GDP growth rate of 7.09%, ranking among the top in the world; Vietnam's potential, position, and international prestige continue to be enhanced; and foreign investors are very keen to cooperate and invest in Vietnam, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended and highly appreciated Hai Phong for achieving a GRDP growth rate of 11.01% in 2024 - the 10th consecutive year of maintaining double-digit growth, placing it among the leading provinces nationwide.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highly appreciated Hai Phong's great focus on caring for and supporting war veterans, the poor, workers, and laborers in difficult circumstances, with the joint efforts of both employers and philanthropists.

By the end of 2024, Hai Phong no longer had any poor households according to the national poverty standard for the 2021-2025 period; over 20,000 people with meritorious service were receiving monthly preferential allowances.

Emphasizing that 2025 is a crucial year, a year of "acceleration" to successfully implement the 2021-2025 five-year socio-economic development plan, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his hope that Hai Phong would continue to be a leading locality in socio-economic development; a center and growth pole in the Red River Delta; and continue to be one of the attractive destinations for international investors, contributing to the overall goals of the country in 2025 and the following years.

In addition, Hai Phong needs to continue to pay attention to, proactively and creatively implement policies and programs to support and ensure welfare and social security for workers, especially those in difficult circumstances, so that people can work and produce with peace of mind, the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

Party committees, government agencies, and mass organizations in the city need to pay the highest attention to ensuring that every household and every citizen of Hai Phong has the opportunity to celebrate the Lunar New Year, "no one should be left without a New Year celebration," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son cordially inquired about the health of the two families and expressed his deep gratitude for their great sacrifices and contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.
