According to RT, in an interview with Fox News on September 28, US Vice President Vance said that Russia had refused three-way meetings with President Trump and representatives from Ukraine.
"Unfortunately, what we've seen over the past few weeks is that the Russians have refused to participate in any bilateral meetings with Ukraine. They've also refused to participate in any trilateral meetings where the president or another administration official could sit down with representatives from Russia and Ukraine," Vance said.

Sources said that President Trump is increasingly impatient with the progress of Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations.
The Kremlin said Kiev showed no interest in peace by maintaining "megaphone diplomacy " and ignoring Russia's settlement proposals.
Moscow stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet President Trump if the US leader accepts the invitation and visits Moscow. This invitation was made shortly after the summit between the two Russian and US leaders in Alaska in August 2025.
"This invitation is still valid. President Putin is ready and would be happy to meet President Trump. After that, it will all depend on Trump's decision," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS on September 28.
However, for a potential meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to take place, Moscow argues that peace talks between the two sides must first make some progress.
"An unprepared meeting with Mr. Zelensky will not bring anything," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed.
Moscow has insisted that it remains ready and willing to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic means.
