Coordinate the management and protection of the Vietnam-Laos border.

On March 16th, in Son La province, the Border Guard Command of three provinces: Thanh Hoa, Son La, and Dien Bien, held a conference to effectively implement several cooperation contents in managing and protecting the border area adjacent to the three provinces of Hua Phan, Luang Prabang, and Phongsaly (Laos).

At the conference, leaders of the Border Guard Command of the three provinces of Thanh Hoa, Son La, and Dien Bien agreed to effectively implement several measures in the coming period, including: Border guard posts adjacent to each other should continue to effectively monitor the relevant internal and external border situations; and maintain regular information exchange.

At the same time, coordinate border patrols in the adjacent areas to promptly detect and prevent activities that violate national territorial sovereignty and border security; direct units to do a good job in border defense diplomacy and special propaganda to ensure that citizens on both sides of the border strictly abide by the Agreement on the Regulations for Border Management and Land Border Gates between Vietnam and Laos.

Coordinate efforts to strengthen propaganda and mobilize the people to strictly abide by the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations; effectively advise local authorities at all levels on consolidating and building a strong political foundation to meet the requirements of the new situation.

In 2024, territorial sovereignty, political security, and social order in the border areas remained fundamentally stable; border management and protection were strictly maintained. Relations between the three provinces of Son La, Dien Bien, and Thanh Hoa and the three provinces of Hua Phan, Luang Prabang, and Phongsaly (Laos) continued to develop positively; border management and protection forces from both sides regularly coordinated closely in border management and protection.

Party committees, local governments, and border communes adjacent to the three provinces are regularly strengthened and consolidated, operating with increasing effectiveness; they pay attention to leading, directing, and mobilizing the people to actively carry out tasks of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and participating with the Border Guard in border management and protection.

The Border Guard Commands of the three provinces have regularly exchanged information on the situation both within and outside the border related to border management and protection. Adjacent border guard posts have coordinated 15 propaganda sessions with 840 attendees and conducted 20 patrols with 280 officers and soldiers participating. In addition, the Border Guard Commands of these provinces also regularly hold annual talks with neighboring provinces of Laos.
