At the exam site of Kim Dong Secondary School, District 5, parent Nguyen Tr. said: "When my child took the exam, my parents were 'holding their breath'. And it's not just now that we're 'holding our breath'. During the whole year my child was in 9th grade, we took him to extra classes everywhere. Seeing him studying so hard made my husband and I worried, but on the outside we still had to act calm and encourage him, 'It's okay, just go to school and take the exam, my child'. But honestly, a few days before the exam, it was hard for him to sleep. He woke up early in the morning, his mother had to cook for him at home, and I had to take him to the exam early so he could calmly review his notes."

This male parent said that although he has been following the news and knows that this year the quota for 10th grade public schools in Ho Chi Minh City is 70,070 students, with more than 76,000 candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam this year, so the passing rate for 10th grade public schools could be more than 90%, he is still worried. "Because I am not worried that my child will not pass the public school, I am only worried that if my child does not pass the first choice that she likes, she will be sad and disappointed," shared the father whose daughter placed her first choice at Tran Khai Nguyen High School, District 5.

The whole family "walks softly, speaks softly and smiles charmingly" waiting for the day their child finishes the 10th grade exam.

At the Ly Thanh Tong Secondary School exam site, District 8, a female parent named Van, residing in Ward 7, District 8, said that during the days her child took the 10th grade exam, she woke up at 3am, cleaned the house, and prepared meals so that her child would have lunch when he finished the exam. At 6am, after feeding her child breakfast, the two of them set off to get to the exam site early.

"When my child takes the exam, I also sit outside to wait for him, because the house is far away, and when I get home, I can't do anything, so I'm anxious and worried. In the past few days, everyone in the family has been walking and talking softly, not daring to put any more pressure on my child. I also avoid asking questions like 'did you do well on the test, how many points did you get?'. When I see my child walking out of the exam room with a happy and excited face, I'm happy, but when he looks sad and not cheerful, I feel sorry," said Ms. Van.

"Before the exam, I was worried that my child would get sick from studying too much, so I made sure he ate, drank, slept, and rested regularly, and went to school safely for the exam. During the exam days, I was worried that my child wouldn't be able to do the test. After the exam, I was worried about the standard score. I heard that this year the passing rate for public 10th grade is higher than previous years, so I was a little happy," the female parent added while standing next to other parents, chatting to shorten the waiting time for her child.

Candidate HA, a student at Kim Dong Secondary School, District 5, placed his first choice at Tran Khai Nguyen High School, his second choice at Ta Quang Buu High School, and his third choice at Nguyen Van Linh High School. Ms. Ngo Phuong H., the male candidate's mother, said that she had considered the admission scores of previous years and advised her son to find a safe choice. In fact, the mother had witnessed candidates with good academic performance, but because they chose all three choices too high, when the exam had problems, the child failed to pass any of his choices in public grade 10...

This year, more than 76,000 9th grade students in Ho Chi Minh City participated in the 10th grade entrance exam. This school year, the number of candidates participating in the exam decreased by more than 20,000 students compared to last year. The target for public 10th grade is 70,070 students, a rate of more than 90%, the highest ever.
