To improve the quality of tourism, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province has tightened the inspection of tourism service business prices, regularly established inspection and supervision teams, especially with restaurant and food service businesses.
As VietNamNet reported, after the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the number of tourists to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) remained low. Controversies related to prices and services have made many tourists hesitant about this destination.
To improve the quality of tourism services and strengthen management in the area, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province has tightened inspection of tourism service prices, regularly established inspection and supervision teams, especially with restaurant and food service establishments.
According to initial results, about 95% of businesses have publicly posted prices. Over the past week, the interdisciplinary team has continuously inspected but has not discovered any "overpriced" sales. Currently, the hotline has not received any feedback from tourists about this phenomenon. Only a few businesses have been reminded about unclear price posting errors.
"For restaurants and food establishments that do not comply with regulations, we will handle them thoroughly. And the most serious form of punishment could be revoking their business licenses," Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh - Head of the Economic Department of Phu Quoc City affirmed.
This general inspection was supported by business owners. Phu Quoc City is determined not to let "one bad apple spoil the barrel".
Previously, on May 15, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City held a meeting to discuss the situation related to local tourism issues, such as airfares and service quality of tours and routes.
