Graduated from the Border Guard Academy, majoring in Border Gate Management in 2020 and promoted to the rank of lieutenant, Luong Tan Phong was transferred to work at Phu Yen Border Guard and has held the position of Head of Da Rang Border Guard Station since then.

Study well, practice seriously

Luong Tan Phong was born and raised in Lang Son , the gateway and borderland of the Fatherland, a homeland with a rich tradition of fighting foreign invaders, with the historical places of Pha Luy, Chi Lang, Bac Son... His dream was to become a soldier to protect the Fatherland's borders, so since becoming a student of the Border Guard Academy, this young man born in 1998 has always reminded himself to study well, train seriously, and strive to be worthy of the traditions of his homeland Lang Son. At the same time, he is worthy of the glorious tradition of the border guards and the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers; steadfast, steadfast, absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; strictly abide by the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, military discipline, and school rules and regulations.

After 2 years of becoming a border guard, Luong Tan Phong was honored to join the Party when he turned 20; and after 4 years of studying and training in the military environment, Luong Tan Phong graduated with honors and was awarded the rank of lieutenant.

Lieutenant Trinh Cong Bao, Head of Phu Hoi Border Guard Station, An Hai Border Guard Station, was a classmate and roommate of Luong Tan Phong from 2016-2020. He said: Phong was the platoon leader (class monitor) of my class. Phong had good academic and training achievements, graduated with honors, so he was promoted to a higher rank.

Despite graduating with honors, when he was assigned as the Head of the Da Rang Border Guard Station, this border guard born and raised in the Northeast region of the country was overwhelmed by the customs, weather, and climate of the Central Coast region. “It took me nearly 6 months to fully grasp the area and truly integrate into the lives of the local people,” Lieutenant Luong Tan Phong confided.

Actively help fishermen

Da Rang Border Guard Station is assigned to manage, maintain, and strictly control people and vehicles entering and exiting Da Dien seaport, while coordinating with relevant agencies to organize situation monitoring, detect, prevent, and combat activities at sea and maintain security and order in the sea border area of Tuy Hoa City - the provincial capital of the province. This is the area with the largest number of fishing vessels in the province, including 344 fishing vessels 15m or longer in length, specializing in offshore fishing, operating for long periods at sea.

As the station chief, Lieutenant Luong Tan Phong proactively advises the Party Committee and the station command to develop plans and effectively implement assigned tasks; promptly combat and handle violations at sea. Every day, he assigns officers and employees to work at the 24/7 switchboard, regularly monitor developments at sea, the location of each boat to promptly exchange information, warn fishermen to proactively avoid bad situations, and be ready to support and help people when unexpected situations occur.

Mr. Nguyen Van Long (born in 1985, Phu Dong ward) said: On April 28, fishing boat PY-90297, of which I was the captain, broke its propeller while fishing for tuna at coordinates 12'490N-110'500E. Da Rang Border Guard Station contacted fishing boat PY-96274TS, which was operating nearby, to tow and assist in safely reaching shore.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hien Tham (born in 1968), captain of fishing boat PY-90179TS, on May 13, when the boat was operating at coordinates 10'50N-111'300E, an accident occurred, Mr. Le Kiet (born in 1985) was caught by an ice crusher, crushing his right hand. Thanks to regular communication, Da Rang Border Guard Station promptly supported and guided the fishing boat to the nearest island to rescue the victim.

Or recently, on May 19, when we were at Da Rang Border Guard Station, the station's switchboard received information that fishing boat PY-96205, captained by Mr. Luong Cong Hau (born in 1977), while working at sea, crew member Pham Ngoc Hung (born in 1988, residing in Phu Dong ward) had difficulty breathing (suspected heart disease). Da Rang Border Guard Station instructed the captain to take the patient to Phu Quy island ( Binh Thuan ) for timely emergency care.

Not only helping fishermen when they encounter problems at sea, recently, Da Rang Border Guard Station and Lieutenant Luong Tan Phong have also promptly informed and guided fishermen working at sea to clearly understand information about storms and tropical depressions to find safe shelter or move out of dangerous areas.

Major Nguyen Thanh Luan, Chief of Tuy Hoa Border Guard Station, commented: As the station chief, Lieutenant Luong Tan Phong is always proactive and takes the lead in carrying out assigned tasks; thoroughly instructing officers, soldiers and employees of the station to strictly implement discipline, laws and military regulations while carrying out tasks, ensuring absolute safety of people, weapons, equipment and vehicles. At the same time, he also does a good job of advising, assisting the Party Committee and the station command in advising and coordinating with localities to organize propaganda, dissemination and education of laws, mobilizing fishermen to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies and regulations when working at sea, signing commitments not to encroach on foreign waters, etc.
