Plan to merge units of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs have prepared to merge closely, clearly, effectively and seriously so as not to interrupt the implementation of the tasks of the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector.

This is the information given by Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung at the Conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 in the field of labor, meritorious people and society held on December 27.

According to Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, in the spirit of the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18/NQ-TW, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs have organized the merger in a tight, clear, effective and serious manner. All projects and related contents of the merger have been ensured.

Regarding vocational education: The General Department of Vocational Education, 13 colleges and 3 pedagogical universities under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will be transferred to the management of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Regarding poverty reduction and social protection: The sustainable poverty reduction function and the National Poverty Reduction Office will be transferred to the Ethnic Committee; 3 Departments: Social Protection, Children, Social Evils Prevention and 7 public service units in the medical sector including 4 hospitals and facilities for the disabled will be transferred to the Ministry of Health for management.

The field of labor, employment and meritorious people with 35 focal points, including 17 state management agencies assisting the Minister, will be merged with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The purpose of this transfer is to increase management efficiency and promote the functions and tasks of each ministry and sector. However, the existing activities and services of the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector will continue to be implemented without interruption.

Regarding the spirit of implementation, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized the need to implement seriously and responsibly, ensuring the rights of workers and social policy beneficiaries, and at the same time, close coordination between ministries and branches is needed to ensure the work goes smoothly.

The head of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs affirmed that the spirit is that the work of the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector will continue to be implemented, not lost but can only increase, although the organizational model may be a little different.
