The program is conducted by conductor Tran Nhat Minh, Head of the HBSO Opera Troupe; with the participation of famous pianist Nguyen Bich Tra returning from England and talented Korean violinist Jeon Min.
A master of many musical genres: opera, symphony, ballet, concerto and sonata, Sergei Prokofiev's career left an indelible mark on 19th-century classical music. In the concert, HBSO will present Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major, performed by violinist Jeon Min.
While Prokofiev is best known as a composer, Sergei Rachmaninov was also a legendary pianist. And pianist Nguyen Bich Tra, who has made a name for herself in Europe with performances that have been hailed as “stunning” (according to The Independent ), will perform Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 on this important night. Critics say it is one of the most challenging of all Rachmaninov’s works.
