PSG recruits Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for 70 million euros

(Dan Tri) - Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has just successfully recruited striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the best player in Serie A in the 2022-23 season, for 70 million euros from Napoli.

Kvaratskhelia joined the French club with a 4-year contract. This is considered the first "explosion" of the winter transfer period. The contract between Kvaratskhelia and PSG is valid until 2029.

According to Italian media, the 23-year-old striker will receive a salary of 11 million euros/year at Parc des Princes, 6 times higher than his income at his old team.

At PSG, Kvaratskhelia will wear the number 7 shirt, which belonged to Kylian Mbappe before the striker moved to Real Madrid last summer. Although only 23 years old, he has been one of the best wingers in Europe in the past 3 years, contributing greatly to Napoli's Serie A championship in the 2022/23 season.

With the presence of the Georgian player, PSG will strengthen their attack, while pushing Kolo Muani to leave on loan.

Sharing on the day of her PSG debut, Kvaratskhelia said: "The time in Napoli was wonderful but it's time to say goodbye. Now my career will turn to a new page.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would sign for PSG. I have heard so many positive things about the team and I am extremely proud to be joining this great club. I am really looking forward to wearing the new shirt."

Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli in July 2022 for more than 11 million euros from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi. He has played 107 matches in all competitions, scoring 30 goals. In the 2022-23 season, Kvaratskhelia contributed greatly with 12 goals and 13 assists to help Napoli win the Serie A title.

PSG's recruitment of Kvaratskhelia is considered a solution to replace Mbappe's position. The French team is showing high performance when leading the Ligue 1 rankings with 43 points after 17 rounds, 7 points ahead of the second-placed opponent, Marseille.

Meanwhile, with Kvaratskhelia leaving, Napoli are said to be targeting Man Utd striker Alejandro Garnacho. The Italian side are said to have made an initial offer worth nearly 48 million euros, but it was rejected.
