Erhu genius Tran Van Xam passed away
"Erhu freak" Tran Van Xam (born in 1984 in Hai Duong ) passed away on August 6 after a long battle with leukemia. The memorial service for artist Tran Van Xam took place on the evening of August 7. He was buried at the Ham Hy Village People's Cemetery.
Artist Tran Van Xam started his elementary studies at the Vietnam Academy of Music when he was only 7 years old. Tran Van Xam learned music very quickly, he could play a complete piece of music after 2 months. After graduating, he was retained by the school as a lecturer. In 2012, Tran Van Xam won second prize at the International Erhu Competition, held in Shanghai (China). In addition to traditional music , the artist plays the Erhu in a unique way, blending many different genres of music.
In 2005, he joined the Northern Jazz Band, becoming the erhu player in a modern orchestra. The artist also renewed many songs such as The pestle on the Bom Bo soc (Xuan Hong), The fire up you (Huy Du) with unique effects. Tran Van Xam himself founded the Net nhi cam group, specializing in performing at Ho Guom walking street and some other venues.
Friends and colleagues mourned him because he was a rare talent. Experts said that artist Tran Van Xam's playing was very special, with an intoxicating quality, like an alcoholic, in a trance, forgetting everything else. Therefore, experts considered artist Tran Van Xam as a genius of the erhu.
Many colleagues such as Xam artist Mai Tuyet Hoa and singer Thai Thuy Linh also call Tran Van Xam a "genius" in the field of traditional art. Tran Van Xam is a young, talented artist with a passion for music. In teaching, the artist is enthusiastic and responsible.
Despite his illness, artist Tran Van Xam always lived an optimistic and cheerful life. He did not share about his illness, so his passing surprised and saddened many people.
