Navy receives Ho Chi Minh Medal for the third time

President Luong Cuong awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Navy. This is the third time the unit has received this noble award (the previous two were in 1979 and 2010).

On the morning of May 7, the Navy (Ministry of National Defense) held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding and receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal (May 7, 1955 - May 7, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, President Luong Cuong acknowledged, congratulated and commended the achievements and great contributions of the Vietnam People's Navy in the cause of national construction and defense.

At the same time, it affirmed that the Vietnam People's Navy is increasingly mature and strong, always successfully completing all tasks; achieving many outstanding and especially outstanding achievements in combat, training, combat readiness, production, work and international missions.

Faced with the tasks in the new period, the President requested officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy to constantly promote the fine traditions of the nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the glorious traditions of the Navy, strengthen solidarity, be proactive, flexible, creative, strive, take advantage of opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, and be determined to excellently complete the tasks.

The President emphasized that cadres and soldiers need to thoroughly grasp and master the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; grasp the situation, advise the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on correct, accurate, and timely policies, countermeasures, and solutions, firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland's seas and islands "early on", "from afar", and maintain a peaceful and stable environment at sea to build and develop the country.

The President requested the service to continue focusing on building a lean, strong, revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern force; fully and deeply aware of building a modern People's Navy, not only in terms of weapons and equipment, but above all, first of all, building modern people according to Uncle Ho's viewpoint of "people first - guns later"...

The Navy must always be the core force, a solid support for fishermen to go offshore, stick to the sea, build a national defense posture, and a "people's hearts posture" at sea. Do a good job of international cooperation and law enforcement at sea; promptly resolve arising issues, firmly protect sovereignty, sovereign rights, jurisdiction and national interests at sea.

Over the past 70 years, the Navy has been honored by the Party and State with the title “Heroic Unit of the People’s Armed Forces” twice, and has been awarded 2 Gold Star Orders, 2 Ho Chi Minh Orders, 2 Independence Orders, 3 Military Exploit Orders, 3 Fatherland Protection Orders, and 1 Labor Order. There have been 82 collectives and 58 individuals awarded the titles “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” and “Hero of Labor”.
