A mystery drone has been spotted tailing a British aircraft carrier at sea after several UAVs were seen hovering over three air bases in the UK.

An unidentified UAV measuring 1.5 x 1.5 m appeared to have tailed the British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth as it entered the port of Hamburg in Germany on November 22, according to The Telegraph on November 24.

The German military posted guards around the port of Hamburg and attempted to target the UAV with an HP-47 jammer before it flew away, according to German newspaper Bild .

On November 23, the US Air Force also revealed that between November 20 and 22, “small unmanned aircraft systems” flew over three air bases in the UK that it uses. The US Air Force said it had the “right to defend” its bases in the UK from threats. The US Air Force did not comment on whether defense mechanisms were used to target the UAVs.

“In the interest of operational security, we do not discuss our specific force protection measures but reserve the right to defend our base. We continue to monitor our airspace and are working with host nation authorities and partners to ensure the safety of base personnel, facilities and assets.”
