Strategic Partner
Vietnam and Japan have built a good relationship on the foundation of close friendship between the two peoples, political trust, enhanced economic cooperation and support, cooperation at international and regional forums, strong development in trade, cultural and tourism exchanges, especially since establishing a Strategic Partnership in April 2009 and upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2014, Japan became the first country in the G7 group to establish a strategic partnership with Vietnam.

In the province, there are currently about 40 countries and territories investing, operating in production and business with 1,191 projects (DA) with a total registered investment capital of over 10 billion USD, of which the leading partners are Korea, Japan, Taiwan (China), etc. Most of the FDI projects are located in the province's industrial parks and clusters.
Over the years, the province has always prioritized cooperation with Japanese agencies, partners and localities to promote and expand investment cooperation. The province has welcomed and worked with many Japanese delegations to survey investment cooperation opportunities; at the same time, it has also organized high-level delegations to carry out foreign affairs activities, connect investment, trade and tourism in localities of Japan.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment, Japan is currently the 4th largest country among 40 countries and territories investing in Long An with 142 projects; total registered capital of over 892 million USD (ranked 4th in terms of capital). These projects are mainly concentrated in the districts of Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc and Tan An City.
Japanese projects invested in the province mainly operate in the fields of manufacturing artificial wood panels and wood products, mechanical engineering - machine manufacturing, manufacturing - assembling electronic components, mechanical processing, agricultural and aquatic product processing, garment processing, animal feed production, food processing, etc. The Japanese business community is one of the largest business communities in the province and has made positive contributions to the local socio-economic development.

Notably, the relationship between the two localities is about cooperation in the fields of agriculture ; labor as well as Japan's support for the province. Through the Consulate General of Japan in Vietnam, up to now, the Japanese Government has provided the province with a number of projects on rural infrastructure development and social security. In particular, the grassroots non-refundable aid program (grassroots ODA), focusing on the fields of health, education, clean water and rural traffic bridge construction. Looking to the future
Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut said that the existing Japanese FDI projects in the province are constantly expanding their scale and increasing their investment capital. This shows that Japanese enterprises still have confidence in the province's investment environment. In addition, Japanese enterprises always fully comply with their commitments on construction progress as well as fully implement regulations on environmental protection, ensure the working environment and implement well the regimes and policies for employees in the province.
Always accompanying businesses is the consistent message of the provincial government. Mr. Nguyen Van Ut emphasized that in order to achieve new, higher and more effective results, it requires leaders and each civil servant of the province to renew their thinking, identify new ways of doing things specifically, in accordance with legal regulations and practices, as well as put people and businesses at the center to serve.

Provincial leaders join hands, unite, and are determined to innovate thinking, change the working style and manner of the entire political system, with the consistent viewpoint of "viewing people as the objects to be served, considering enterprises as the driving force and resources for the development process". The province is always ready to welcome and create the most favorable conditions for investors in general and Japanese investors in particular to cooperate in investment and development, and to succeed together in Long An.
In addition, the provincial leaders always listen to and share the difficulties and problems that enterprises in general and Japanese enterprises in particular are facing in the process of production and business activities. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the sectors and localities to find solutions, urgently implement and resolve them for enterprises.
Based on the good friendship and cooperation between the province and Japanese partners, authorities, organizations and enterprises in the past time, the Provincial People's Committee plans to organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023).
Accordingly, the province will consolidate and develop the existing friendship and cooperation between Long An and Japanese localities, organizations and enterprises; continue to build and expand cooperative relations with potential Japanese partners. At the same time, bring the image of the country and people of Japan to the people in the province; promote the investment, trade, tourism environment, and the unique culture of the province to the country, people and enterprises of Japan.
In addition to sending congratulatory messages to leaders of Japanese localities with cooperative relations, the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and important Japanese partners on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, the province will organize dialogues with Japanese enterprises in the province; organize cultural exchange activities; exhibitions to introduce cooperative relations between the province and Japanese partners;...
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, from 2014 to present, the province has organized many working delegations with seminars and investment promotion in Japan: Komaki City (2 sessions in 2014, 2017), Tokyo Capital (October 2017), Yokohama City (June 2017), Wakayama Province (October 2017), Kanagawa Province (2018, 2019, 2022), Ibaraki (2022),...
