Over the years, the Vu (Vo) clan in Ha Long area has become a bright spot in the province's movement to encourage learning and talent. Established in 2007, the Vu (Vo) clan council has grown strongly with 17 affiliated clans, gathering nearly 1,200 member families. From the very beginning, the clan has identified promoting learning and talent as a key task, associated with preserving and promoting the tradition of studiousness of its ancestors.
The family has also established a Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund named after Doctor Vu Phi Ho - the first doctor of Quang Ninh , whose name has been honored at the Temple of Literature since 1513. With a stable annual fund of about 100 million VND, mainly from contributions from member families and support from businesses and children in the family, the family has promptly rewarded and encouraged hundreds of students, undergraduates and postgraduates with excellent achievements. In the last 5 school years, nearly 900 children and students have been honored and rewarded by the family with a total prize of over 125 million VND.
Mr. Vu Dinh Duoc, Chairman of the Vu (Vo) Clan Council in Ha Long area, said: We always consider learning not only for each individual, but also to honor tradition and enhance the position of the whole clan in the community. The clan convention sets out specific competition criteria for encouraging learning and talent, considering it a shared responsibility and pride. It is the spirit of solidarity, voluntary contribution and awareness of preserving the tradition of studiousness that has created sustainable strength for the movement to encourage learning and talent...
The Vu Tam family (Yen Dong village, Phong Coc ward) is also one of the typical learning families. In 2007, the Vu Tam family's Learning and Talent Promotion Committee was established. Since then, the learning and talent promotion activities in the family have become a beautiful tradition, maintained regularly, creating a wide spread in the community. Mr. Vu Manh Toan, Head of the Vu Tam family's Learning and Talent Promotion Committee, said: Every year, the family's Learning and Talent Promotion Committee organizes meetings, commends, and awards children and grandchildren with high achievements in studying, training, and passing entrance exams to universities and colleges, and excellent students at all levels. Over 18 years of operation, hundreds of excellent students of the family have been commended and encouraged, many of whom have grown up to become officials, intellectuals, engineers, doctors, lecturers, businessmen, etc., actively contributing to the development of their homeland and country.
Not only focusing on spiritual encouragement, the family also mobilizes to raise a Fund for Encouragement of Learning and Talent from contributions from families and successful descendants living far away from home. On the occasion of the ancestor worship in early spring, each member of the family voluntarily participates in supporting the fund. Thanks to that, the fund is increasingly expanded, ensuring sustainability, timely support for difficult cases, and arousing the spirit of learning in the young generation.
The Vu Tam family's Education and Talent Promotion Committee also actively cooperates with the government, contributing to improving the quality of local education, building learning communities, learning families, and learning clans. Up to now, the clan has no poor households, most of the families have achieved the title of cultural family. The members of the clan are united, close-knit, and help each other build their lives and develop the economy .
Currently, in the province, the models of learning clans are increasingly focused on and replicated, contributing to promoting the movement of encouraging learning, encouraging talents, and building a learning society. Up to now, Quang Ninh has 1,038 learning clans. Many clans have built a systematic and transparent operating charter; mobilized to establish a stable fund for encouraging learning; organized annual festivals for encouraging learning, thereby affirming the prestige and appeal of the movement.
Notably, the learning clans not only create an environment to encourage learning within the family and children, but also contribute to promoting the learning movement of the community and village, thereby improving people's knowledge and training quality human resources for the locality.
