Care and help people in difficult circumstances

With the motto "For everyone, everywhere", the Red Cross Society (RC) at all levels in Nghia Hung district has carried out many humanitarian and charitable activities towards the disadvantaged, the poor, and people in difficult circumstances, contributing to effectively implementing the great goal of the Party and State "leaving no one behind".

Nghia Hung District Red Cross Society cooperates with organizations and units to give Tet At Ty 2025 gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the district.

To promote activities to care for the poor, people in difficult circumstances, and the disadvantaged, the District Red Cross Association has advised Party committees and authorities at all levels, closely coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee and local departments, branches, and organizations to strengthen propaganda and education work, arouse compassion among all classes of people, and effectively mobilize resources to help groups and individuals; regularly survey and make lists of people in especially difficult circumstances who need community assistance to implement practical programs and activities aimed at the grassroots level such as: "Humanitarian Tet"; "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address"; "Humanitarian month"; support for building and repairing Red Cross houses; counseling, health check-ups, etc. These activities have brought about positive results, encouraging and helping the poor, the disadvantaged, and the less fortunate to reduce their difficulties. Specifically, implementing the program "Charitable Tet" Spring At Ty 2025, the district Red Cross Associations at all levels have developed plans and determined specific implementation targets for each Association; coordinated with the Fatherland Front, sectors and organizations at the same level to survey and make lists, organize visits and give gifts to the beneficiaries. The Red Cross Associations at all levels in the district have drawn from the Humanitarian Relief Fund, Agent Orange Fund, support sources from organizations, businesses, religious dignitaries, and philanthropists to visit and present 4,330 gifts worth over 1.5 billion VND to people in poor and near-poor households, victims of Agent Orange (AO), families with meritorious services, people with disabilities in difficult circumstances, orphans, lonely elderly people, poor students overcoming difficulties, people in danger of disaster, etc. Implementing the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address", from 2024 to present, the Red Cross Associations at all levels in the district have established records and provided assistance to 17 addresses. Specifically, the Red Cross Association of the district has mobilized the Dan Phuong Hanoi Club to subsidize Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngát, Hamlet 1, Nghia Lam Commune, 700,000 VND per month; The Loving Women's Club and the Red Cross Society of Nghia Hai commune subsidized 200,000 VND/month for one child in difficult circumstances in the commune. The association mobilized the Thien Tam Fund and Vingroup Corporation to support 15 orphaned students in difficult circumstances who are good students, worth 700,000 VND/month/child.

Responding to the annual "Humanitarian Month", the District Red Cross Association develops a plan, advises the District People's Committee to issue an official dispatch on supporting the Humanitarian Fund and organizing the "Humanitarian Month", and at the same time directs the Red Cross Associations of communes and towns to organize and implement. In 2024, with the participation and support of Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, organizations, agencies, units, philanthropists and people, the whole district mobilized to build a Humanitarian Fund of 270 million VND; provided emergency subsidies to 40 people in difficult circumstances. In the humanitarian and charitable activities towards the poor and disadvantaged people of the District Red Cross Association, many organizations and individuals have actively participated in charity work, donating money and gifts worth hundreds of millions of VND such as: Thien Tam Fund, Vingroup Group donated 400 Tet gifts, worth 200 million VND; Agribank Nam Dinh branch donated 100 Tet gifts, worth 100 million VND; Phuong Tung Advertising Company donated 1,000 gifts, worth 350 million VND; Venerable Thich Thien Tanh, Abbot of Minh Long Co Tu Pagoda (Kien Giang) supported 300 bicycles and 10 tons of rice, cash, total value of 1 billion VND; Venerable Thich Minh Thanh, Linh Quang Pagoda, Nghia Chau Commune donated 170 gifts, worth 120 million VND; Venerable Thich Nhat Khanh, Binh A Pagoda, Nghia Thinh Commune, donated 65 gifts, worth 32.5 million VND...

In order to prevent and respond to disasters, provide emergency support to the poor, people in difficult circumstances, vulnerable groups, people at risk, and those who are unlucky, etc., the District Red Cross Association has implemented the Program "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen". In particular, it focuses on activities to mobilize resources to support fishermen in difficulty in Ninh Thuan province according to the targets assigned by the province; at the same time, it reviews and supports fishermen in the district to develop their livelihoods, support the repair of vehicles, fishing gear, and houses, etc. Caring for the poor, the Nghia Hung District Red Cross Association also organizes many activities to care for and improve the health of people, especially those in difficult circumstances. Accordingly, in order to effectively implement community-based health care, the Red Cross Association at all levels from district to grassroots has coordinated with departments, branches, and organizations to propagate and mobilize cadres, members, and people of all walks of life to improve their knowledge of health care, disease prevention, environmental sanitation, food safety, and medicinal plant cultivation. At the same time, coordinate with medical facilities to organize humanitarian medical examinations, health consultations, and provide free medicine for the poor and people with Agent Orange/Dioxin exposure, mobilize people to donate corneas and bodies to medicine, organize nutrition communication programs for children in difficult circumstances, etc. Thereby, helping the poor have access to modern, advanced health care services and disease screening. From 2024 to present, the Red Cross Association of the district has coordinated with the health sector to organize screening examinations, provide free medicine, and provide health consultations for hundreds of poor people and people in difficult circumstances. With the task of being the standing agency of the District Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization Committee, the District Red Cross Association also proactively coordinates with the media and the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization in communes and towns to widely propagate to all classes of people about the significance of voluntary blood donation. Thanks to that, the results obtained in blood donation campaigns in the district always exceed the assigned target. Also from 2024 to present, the whole district has mobilized thousands of people to participate in blood donation, receiving 1,881 units of blood, exceeding the target assigned by the province.

The specific and practical activities and work of the Nghia Hung District Red Cross Society have promptly provided assistance to thousands of poor people, people in difficult circumstances, and disadvantaged people in terms of material and spiritual conditions. From there, they have been encouraged and motivated to improve their lives, affirming the role of "red addresses", an effective bridge in the humanitarian and charitable activities of the Society.
