Also attending were Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China Pham Sao Mai; Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Ha Vi; and more than 30 veterans, experts and relatives of Chinese veterans and experts.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien spoke at the meeting.

At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien shared that Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries with mountains and rivers connected by a strip of land, with similar cultures, similar ideals, and the same socialist ideals. President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong, and other leaders of the two countries have established a friendship and joined hands to build a traditional friendship of "both comrades and brothers". Both countries do not forget the Vietnamese soldiers who joined the Chinese Red Army, such as General Nguyen Son (Hong Thuy), the only Vietnamese who completed the Long March of the Chinese Red Army; or the early months of 1949, when the domestic resistance was still extremely difficult, but Vietnam was also ready to send military forces with the Chinese People's Liberation Army to successfully carry out the Thap Van Dai Son campaign; on January 15, 1950, Vietnam recognized the Government of the People's Republic of China; On January 18, 1950, China was the first country in the world to recognize the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This was a mutual support of great historical and political significance for both countries, and was the day of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

During the difficult years of the two countries' revolutions, to express their mutual support in the resistance war against foreign invaders, Chairman Mao Zedong affirmed to the Chinese people and the world that "the vast land of China is the great rear of the Vietnamese people". Meanwhile, President Ho Chi Minh, writing in the newspaper Cuu vong dai bao, affirmed that "China and Vietnam are like lips and teeth. Remember that when lips are exposed, teeth will hurt", to affirm the vital relationship between the two countries.

During Vietnam's struggles for national independence and reunification, China was one of the countries that helped Vietnam a lot, both in terms of weapons and equipment, logistics, technology, and training of cadres and soldiers, contributing significantly to the victory of the Vietnamese people in the resistance wars. Vietnam always respects, remembers, and is grateful for the great, timely, wholehearted, and righteous assistance of the Party, Government, people, and Army of China; the dedication and sacrifice of Chinese veterans and military experts to Vietnam, contributing to helping Vietnam and the Vietnam People's Army gain great victories in the cause of national liberation and reunification.

Currently, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam are reviewing and restoring cemeteries of martyrs, graves of martyrs, and Chinese experts who had helped the Vietnamese revolution in the past. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien wished the Chinese veterans and their families good health; hoped that the veterans would continue to be role models, educating the younger generation about the good relationship between the two countries, contributing their efforts and intelligence, contributing to fostering the good traditional friendship "both comrades and brothers" between Vietnam and China and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a community of shared future between Vietnam and China, for peace, security, development cooperation, prosperity and strength, towards a bright future for the two nations and all of humanity. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien respectfully invited Chinese veterans to Vietnam to attend the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th Anniversary of National Defense Day and to visit Vietnam, where the veterans experienced difficult and arduous years, but were also very proud.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son spoke at the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son shared that the more than 30 veterans present at the meeting were those who witnessed and directly contributed to building the "close Vietnam-China relationship, both as comrades and brothers". Appreciating the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense's organization of this meaningful activity on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th National Defense Day, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that this is a practical action, demonstrating the fine tradition of "Remembering the person who planted the tree when eating the fruit" of the Vietnamese people or as the General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping said "Never forget the beginning".

Mr. Truong Van Ban, Head of the delegation of Chinese veterans and experts, spoke at the meeting.

Mr. Truong Van Ban, Head of the delegation of Chinese veterans and experts, representing Chinese veterans, emotionally shared that during Vietnam's struggle for independence and national liberation, he and his comrades left their homeland, with the spirit of not fearing hardship and danger, fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnam People's Army. Half a century has passed, the soldiers who helped Vietnam now have gray hair, but they still do not forget their noble mission: Fostering the China-Vietnam friendship. Three generations of his family have devoted themselves to this friendship. He emphasized that today's meeting is clear evidence that the Party, Government, Army and people of Vietnam do not forget the Chinese veterans who fought with all their might to help Vietnam, so that from here, the flame of friendship is continued and passed on from generation to generation, creating solidarity and attachment between the two nations. He hopes that China and Vietnam will always stand side by side, writing a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries.
