Quang Binh signs 3 projects to lease forest environment for tourism development

On May 20, information from the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board said that it had just completed signing 3 projects to lease forest environments with businesses for the purpose of ecotourism, resort, entertainment and protection, sustainable development of forest ecosystems in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage with an investment value of nearly 500 billion VND.

Specifically, MBG Lac Sanh Phu Yen Joint Stock Company signed an investment contract in the eco-tourism and environmental interpretation site of the Botanical Garden, in Sub-area 615, in the administrative service subdivision in Phong Nha - Ke Bang Heritage with a forest environment rental area of 77 hectares, a total investment of 91 billion VND; Greenscape Project Development and Investment Management Consulting Joint Stock Company, invested in the Km8 resort site, in Sub-area 245, in the production forest planning with a forest environment rental area of 76 hectares, a total investment of 310 billion VND; Viet Green Eco-tourism Joint Stock Company, invested in the Tourism Management and Operation Center and Ba Tay Hill resort site, in Sub-area 615A, in the Service - Administration subdivision with a forest environment rental area of 83 hectares, a total investment of 76 billion VND.

According to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board, the forest environment lease term is 30 years. Every 5 years, the contract implementation will be evaluated to consider extending the lease term in accordance with current law.

In recent times, renting forest environments for investment and business in ecotourism combined with nature conservation is a solution to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity that is considered sustainable and tends to develop faster than traditional forms of tourism. In Quang Binh province, renting forest environments for tourism development has also been prioritized by many units and businesses, contributing to diversifying the types of tourism in this locality.

Quang Binh is also the second province in the country in terms of forest coverage with a rate of over 68%. The forests in Quang Binh are also home to many beautiful landscapes; most notably, the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; the Dong Chau - Khe Nuoc Trong nature reserve with an area of up to thousands of hectares with high biodiversity value, beautiful landscapes suitable for exploitation in tourism development investment.
