Quang Nam proposes guidance on vehicle classification to determine registration fee levels

The reason for this document is that in the process of managing the collection of registration fees, the Quang Nam Provincial Tax Department encountered difficulties in applying the registration fee rate for vehicles that are "four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines participating in traffic within a limited range".

Specifically, the Hoi An City Tax Department (under the Quang Nam Provincial Tax Department) received a vehicle registration fee declaration file from a business; the information on the certificate of technical safety and environmental protection for imported four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines shows that this is a type of vehicle "four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines participating in traffic within a limited range".

Through processing registration records, the Quang Nam Provincial Tax Department has no basis to classify the type of "four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines participating in traffic within a limited range" as cars, vehicles similar to cars, passenger cars with 9 seats or less, or battery-powered electric cars.

In the dispatch, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province requested the Ministry of Transport to consider and issue a document guiding the type of vehicle "four-wheeled passenger vehicles with engines participating in traffic within a limited range" which are cars, vehicles similar to cars or passenger cars with 9 seats or less or battery-powered electric cars to unify the application of registration fee collection levels in accordance with regulations, and at the same time have a basis to resolve the problems of the Quang Nam Provincial Tax Department.
