Quang Ngai plans to spend nearly 2,200 billion VND to build a new Tra Khuc 1 bridge.

(QNgTV) - Quang Ngai will spend nearly 2,200 billion VND to build a new Tra Khuc 1 bridge to replace the old bridge that is over 60 years old and has degraded, contributing to improving transportation capacity and urban construction.

Tra Khuc 1 Bridge (formerly Tra Khuc Bridge) is the first road bridge across the Tra Khuc River through the center of Quang Ngai City, connecting Truong Quang Trong Ward (North bank) with Nghia Lo Ward (South bank). The bridge experienced many historic floods in the years: 1986, 1999 and 2009, causing the river water with high flow rate, along with many floating objects, to negatively impact the bridge's piers and girders, threatening the safety of the project.

After more than half a century of existence, Tra Khuc 1 Bridge has now degraded and can no longer meet the transport capacity in the context of "hot" traffic growth and rapid urbanization. Rebuilding Tra Khuc 1 Bridge is a requirement set forth in the context of Quang Ngai wanting to gradually complete the transport network, increase connectivity between the gateway area and the northern industrial center with the urban core of the province. As well as expanding the development space, creating a highlight of landscape architecture space and building a new symbol for the central urban area.

Once approved, the project will begin construction drawing design, aiming to start construction in 2025.
