In many mountainous communes in western Quang Ngai province, digital transformation is gradually becoming a prominent feature in people's lives thanks to the support of community digital technology groups. These groups not only guide people in using smartphones but also directly assist in accessing digital platforms, helping people in remote areas gradually become familiar with technology and apply digital utilities to their daily lives.

Vi Glơng village in Kon Plông commune currently has 150 households with approximately 470 inhabitants, mainly Mơ Nâm people – a branch of the Xơ Đăng ethnic group. In implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, the locality has established a community digital technology team consisting of 5 members, with the village Party Secretary serving as the team leader.

According to the Party Secretary of Vi Glơng A Thảo village, the community digital technology team maintains regular activities to support people in accessing and effectively using digital applications and platforms such as VNeID, the National Public Service Portal, digital banking, and e-wallets.

In addition to organizing group training sessions, members also visited individual households to provide direct assistance with the process. To date, more than 20% of the villagers are able to independently complete and submit online applications and use digital platforms for essential needs.

According to Mr. A Thao, after the administrative unit merger, the Kon Plong commune administrative center is about 40km away from Vi Glong village. This long distance causes residents to waste a lot of time and money whenever they need to handle administrative procedures.

Mr. A Thao shared that being guided through the online application process has created many advantages for citizens, helping to reduce the number of trips, save costs, and allow them to be more proactive in handling administrative procedures.

Mr. A Ni, a resident of Vi Glong village, revealed that in the past, every time people needed to complete administrative procedures, they had to travel a long distance to the commune center, which was both time-consuming and costly.

Not only in Kon Plông commune, but also in Tu Mơ Rông commune - which has a complex mountainous terrain with many villages located 15-20km from the commune center - people face considerable difficulties in accessing administrative services and digital information.

In light of this reality, community-based digital technology groups have played a crucial role in supporting people's access to the digital environment, improving their technology skills, and gradually applying digital platforms to their lives.

Currently, Tu Mo Rong commune has established 17 community digital technology teams in 17 villages. Members regularly disseminate information and guide residents on using smartphones, installing digital applications, and accessing the National Public Service Portal to carry out administrative procedures online.

In Dak Ka village, Party Secretary and Village Head Y Lieu said that each week, members of the group dedicate two sessions at the communal house to guide people on using digital applications.

According to Pham Hong Huy, Director of the Tu Mo Rong Commune Public Administrative Service Center, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the center has received nearly 500 administrative procedure applications, of which more than 80% were submitted online by the people.

According to Mr. Huy, this result shows that people's digital awareness and skills are gradually improving. In particular, community-based digital technology groups play a crucial role in guiding and supporting people to effectively access online public services.

According to statistics from the Department of Science and Technology, Quang Ngai is one of the first localities nationwide to complete the establishment and consolidation of 100% of community digital technology groups under the two-tiered local government model, with 1,477 groups and more than 12,000 members. In the first quarter of 2026, the province's online application rate reached nearly 80%.

It is evident that community-based digital technology groups are becoming a core force in bringing digital transformation closer to people in mountainous areas, contributing to gradually narrowing the digital divide between remote and more developed regions.
