According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on June 11, the eye of the storm was located at about 16.7 degrees North latitude; 112.5 degrees East longitude in the sea east of the Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the eye of the storm is level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10; moving in the West-Northwest direction at a speed of 10-15 km/h. It is forecasted that by June 13, the storm will move into the area of Hainan Island (China) and the eastern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, with a natural disaster risk level of level 3.
As the first storm of the year, the direction and intensity of the storm still contain many uncertain factors. In order to proactively prevent, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Disaster Prevention of Quang Ninh province requests localities and units to seriously implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 2969/CD-BNNMT dated June 10, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment . In particular, pay special attention to some key tasks:
The Department of Sea, Islands and Fisheries, Fisheries Surveillance, and coastal localities shall check the number of fishing boats in operation (especially offshore boats), contact the boats, and provide information about the storm's path so that the vehicles can proactively escape the storm's affected area (affected area in the next 24 hours from: 14.5-18.5 degrees North latitude; 110.0-115.5 degrees East longitude).
Coastal information stations update information about the storm, notify watercraft operating in Quang Ninh waters to proactively implement plans to escape from dangerous areas; direct inspection, organize reinforcement of cages, rafts, and aquaculture areas at sea; prepare plans to bring people from aquaculture areas ashore; organize on-duty shifts, and be ready to receive and implement instructions from the Central and the province in the coming time.
The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue recommends that people, especially in coastal areas, regularly monitor official weather forecasts, do not share unverified information, and strictly follow recommendations and instructions to ensure safety of people and property.
