On the morning of August 15, Quang Binh Friendship Hospital announced that its doctors had just saved the lives of two critically injured victims of electric shock.
Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on August 14, while working at a construction site near Quang Binh Friendship Hospital, Mr. TVH (38 years old, residing in Gio Linh commune) and Mr. LVH (51 years old, residing in Hoan Lao commune, Quang Tri province) were suddenly electrocuted and critically injured.
Upon receiving the news, Quang Binh Friendship Hospital quickly sent medical staff and equipment to the scene to provide emergency aid and take the victim to the hospital.
Doctor Tran Van Son, Head of the Emergency Unit, Quang Binh Friendship Hospital, said that when approached, both victims were unconscious with many electrical burns. Among them, the LVH worker showed signs of cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest, and doctors quickly performed CPR at the scene.
After being taken to the Emergency Department, doctors continued advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, electric shock, ventilation support with Ambu bag, vasopressor drugs and coordinated with many specialties to treat injuries caused by electrical burns.
After about 15 minutes of emergency treatment, the victims regained their pulse and their blood pressure improved. After passing the critical stage, the two victims were transferred to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for further monitoring and intensive treatment.
“When we arrived, the victim was in critical condition. Luckily, the incident happened near the hospital, so the time from the accident to emergency treatment was very short, which increased the effectiveness of emergency treatment and limited future complications for the victim,” added Dr. Tran Van Son.
According to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, the unit is also receiving, monitoring and treating a case of a victim of cardiac arrest due to electric shock transferred from a lower level./.
