Qatari emir to visit India next week

This is the second visit of Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to India in 10 years.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on February 15 stating that Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani will visit New Delhi from February 17-18 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This will be the second visit of the Emir of Qatar to the country of the Ganges. He had previously visited India on a state visit in March 2015.

The Gulf head of state is scheduled to hold talks with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing various aspects of bilateral relations.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs of India, India and Qatar share a deep historical bond of friendship, trust and mutual respect. In recent years, the relationship between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, energy, technology, culture and people-to-people exchanges has continued to strengthen.

The Indian community living in Qatar is the largest expatriate community here and is highly regarded for its positive contributions to the progress and development of this country of over 3 million people.

In that context, the two-day visit of the Emir of Qatar is expected to add momentum to the growing multilateral partnership between the two countries.

Earlier last month, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in the capital Doha.

Exactly one year ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Doha (February 14-15, 2024), making his second visit to Qatar since taking office in 2014.
