Compliance with the periodic inspection cycle for vehicles, especially 4-seat non-commercial vehicles, plays an important role in ensuring traffic safety as well as vehicle maintenance. The inspection cycle is established based on the age of the vehicle to promptly detect technical problems and ensure the vehicle always operates safely.

1. Periodic inspection cycle of 4-seat cars not used for transportation business
According to Appendix V of Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT and Circular 16/2021/TT-BGTVT, the periodic inspection cycle for 4-seat cars not used for transportation business is regulated as follows:
- Vehicles with a production period of up to 7 years: The inspection cycle is 24 months. During this period, the vehicle is inspected and maintained every two years to ensure that technical problems and wear and tear are detected and timely repairs are made.
- Vehicles manufactured between 7 and 20 years: Inspection period is shortened to 12 months. At this stage, the vehicle needs to be inspected more carefully because many safety and technical issues may arise.
- Vehicles with a production time of over 20 years: The inspection cycle is shortened to 6 months, because vehicles of this age often have many technical problems and require more frequent inspection and maintenance to ensure safety for users as well as other road users.
Establishing such a periodic inspection cycle is a necessary measure to help vehicles always meet safety standards, while minimizing the risk of traffic accidents due to technical problems.
2. Documents to prepare when taking a 4-seater car for inspection
When the car owner brings a 4-seat car for inspection, it is necessary to prepare some documents according to the regulations in Circular 16/2021/TT-BGTVT, specifically as follows:
- Vehicle registration: The vehicle owner must present the original Vehicle Registration Certificate or the original Receipt of the original Vehicle Registration Certificate (if the vehicle is mortgaged at a credit institution), or a copy certified by the financial leasing organization. In case the Vehicle Registration Certificate is not available, the vehicle owner must submit an appointment letter for the issuance of the Vehicle Registration Certificate.
- Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection quality of modified motor vehicles: For vehicles that have undergone modification or repair, this certificate is required to ensure that the vehicle meets safety and environmental standards.
- Information about journey monitoring devices and cameras: If the vehicle is required to install these devices, the vehicle owner must provide a login name, password and management website address for inspection purposes.
- Tracking form: Vehicle owners must fully declare information about the transportation business on this form, helping authorities have an overview of the vehicle's purpose.
Preparing all documents will help the inspection process go smoothly and quickly.
3. Regulations on taking photos of 4-seat cars during inspection
According to Circular 16/2021/TT-BGTVT, taking photos of 4-seat cars during inspection is carried out according to specific requirements to ensure accuracy and transparency:
- Take a photo of the entire vehicle and registration plate: The photo must be clear, with the car taking up about 75% of the frame area. This photo will be used to print on the Inspection Certificate.
- Take a 45 degree diagonal photo from the rear right side: This photo also needs to cover 75% of the frame area and is used to print on the Inspection Certificate. The purpose of this is to clearly show the overall vehicle and registration number.
- Take photos of the luggage compartment: This requirement applies to cars with more than 9 seats, allowing for a more thorough inspection of the vehicle compartments.
- Photo resolution: Photos must be clear with a minimum resolution of 1280 x 720. The time the photo was taken must be accurately recorded with the day, month, hour, and minute to ensure transparency.
Taking photos during the inspection process is an important part of tracking and storing vehicle information, contributing to ensuring transparency and accuracy in the inspection process.
Periodic inspection cycles and inspection procedures for 4-seat non-commercial vehicles are mandatory regulations to ensure traffic safety and maintain vehicle quality. Vehicle owners must strictly comply with the regulations on inspection cycles as well as prepare all necessary documents when taking their vehicles for inspection, helping this process to take place smoothly and effectively.
